Marvel vs Capcom 3 Frank West Doctor Octopus DLC

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has only been out for a day, but that hasn't stopped speculation regarding the blockbuster fighter. Though the game has been well-received by fans and critics alike, it is still being poked and prodded by some.

Although the final roster is by no means bad, everyone has their personal favorite characters that they feel are missing from Marvel vs. Capcom 3. With Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath being confirmed as DLC, fans are eagerly waiting to see what other characters will be offered in the future.

The rumors are likely to spiral even further as images have popped up that look into the coding for the game. The images show leftover coding for two more characters: Dead Rising's famous reporter and fan favorite, Frank West, and chief Spider-Man villain, Doctor Octopus.

This seems to confirm that the two characters were originally set to be included in the game, but were scrapped at the last minute. Maybe Doctor Octopus was too similar to Omega Red, and as such, was difficult to program. Maybe the developers at Capcom felt that Frank West was hard to translate from his Tatsunoko vs. Capcom incarnation. Maybe they just thought that they had enough as it was, and didn't need to include them.

Whatever the case, this now opens up the possibility of the two appearing as DLC characters, much like Valentine and Gorath. This would cause some controversy, however. After all, the code is apparently already in the game. Fans would obviously be reluctant to pay for something that's already on the disc, even if it is incomplete.

There's also the possibility that nothing at all will come of this. They could just be leftover code that won't be completed, and may not even be brought up later on when talk of DLC comes up again.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Should DLC for Frank West and Doctor Octopus be made later on? Would you be willing to pay for it, even if it's already on the disc?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is out right now for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
