Spider-Man is one of the most successful and oldest Marvel heroes. He first appeared in 1962, and ever since then, he went on to become a clear favorite for many people. One reason for his popularity is that he's so relatable. Unlike other superheroes, Peter Parker isn't extremely rich and can't make all his problems go away.

Quite the opposite - Peter often struggles with not having enough money. However, not being able to afford something is the smallest of Spider-Man's issues. Over the years, some pretty weird things happened to Spider-Man in the comics and the movies as well.

7 The Time He Had Six Arms

Spider-Man might have "spider" in his name but he doesn't need eight legs as arachnids have. Except, in one story, Peter got an additional four hands so that he would have eight limbs in total, legs included.

It happened when Peter was tired of his powers and tried to get rid of them. Instead, he ended up with extra arms. Fortunately for the young hero, Dr. Curt Connors, aka the Lizard, was able to help him get rid of his additional arms.

6 The Time His Aunt Almost Married His Arch Enemy

Doctor Octopus Aunt May wedding

All Spider-Man fans know that Doctor Octopus is one of Spider-Man's most iconic villains. A less known instance is the time when Doctor Octopus planned to marry Aunt May. Not because he's in love with her but because May has inherited a nuclear plant that Doctor Octopus wants for himself.

Naturally, Peter's not excited about the idea that his enemy would join his family. But since Aunt May mostly remains single in the comics to this day, it's clear that her planned marriage doesn't work out in the end, luckily for her nephew.

5 The Time He Switched Bodies With Wolverine

Spider-Man and Wolverine

Wolverine and Spider-Man become friendly in the comics but it's impossible to overlook they're very different, character-wise. So when Peter wakes up one day and learns he's in Wolverine's body (and vice versa), he's not overjoyed. The story is hilarious since the readers get to see another side of both heroes.

It was also adapted in The Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. One of the best moments is when Peter tries to persuade Wolverine to go to his school, as he would usually do, and Wolverine ends up doing what he wants anyway. They come back to their own bodies in the end, and they're both more appreciative of the lives they live (at least Spider-Man is, anyway).

4 The Time He Made A Deal With The Devil

Mephisto-Marvel

One of the most infamous comic book stories is Spider-Man: One More Day. Peter makes a deal with Mephisto in order to save Aunt May from dying. The only problem is that Mephisto isn't doing it from the kindness of his heart. The payment he demands is steep - Peter's and Mary Jane's marriage.

Peter takes the deal, the marriage never happens and while Aunt May is okay, the comic book hints at the fact that both Peter and Mary Jane aren't as happy as they could be if they were together. This strange experience is on Spider-Man, though, since he's the one who makes the deal in the first place.

3 The Time Doctor Octopus Stole His Body

Otto Octavius is a genius, but one who doesn't use his intellect for good purposes. So when Octavius realizes he's dying, he decides to swap his body with Peter Parker's. He manages this feat and Peter is stuck in Octavius's failing body.

Doctor Octopus then goes on to become the new, updated, Superior Spider-Man. He makes Peter Parker a rich man but is nowhere near as heroic as the real Peter. Eventually, Peter gets his body back but the overall experience proves to be one of the strangest in his life.

2 When He Bonded With An Alien Symbiote

Venom has had other hosts, such as Eddie Brock, Flash Thompson (or even Deadpool), but Peter Parker continues to be his most famous host. After losing his original suit, Peter was initially excited that he had a suit with extra perks, such as camouflaging itself. However, the suit had a negative impact on him, making him more aggressive.

Peter eventually got rid of it and he was later surprised when he learned the whole truth about Venom's origin. Almost all superheroes change their superhero suit during their life but Spider-Man is one of the few who can say that he bonded with an alien symbiote.

1 When He Shot Webbing Out Of His Own Body

Tobey Maguire shooting web Spider-Man

The Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy is popular among fans to this day. However, one point that didn't sit well with many comic book readers and proved somewhat strange was Peter's organic webbing. In the comics, Peter has to make artificial webs.

Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, on the other hand, has organic webs that he can shoot from his own body. While that makes certain he doesn't run out of webs, it's also somewhat disgusting, making it difficult for Peter to ever go to a doctor again......
