Spider-Man is without a doubt one of the most popular and well-known superheroes. Even those who haven't read any of his comic book adventures are usually familiar with the character thanks to Spider-Man's on-screen appearances in live-action movies. Considering his rich history that spans sixty years, it comes as no surprise that there have been many variations of Spider-Man, different people who donned the mask and also the suit.

As such, the Spider-Man suit doesn't remain the same, it changes over time. Some versions of it never became a big hit, but others left a strong impression and belong among the best Spider-Man comic suits ever, simply because they look awesome, work great, or both of these things.

6 The Fear Itself

Even though the suit from the storyline Fear Itself didn't last long and was eventually destroyed, it still left a strong impression. Tony Stark and the Dwarves of Nidavellir worked on it together and used Uru for the suit, a metal that also helped create Thor's hammer among others.

The darker suit not only looked good, but it was also strong and gave Spider-Man powers that he didn't have before. It served him well while Spider-Man dealt with the crisis but even though the suit was recognizable enough as Spider-Man's, the web-slinger's fans still felt relief when their favorite superhero returned to his more classic look.

5 Spider-Man Noir

Spider-Man Noir

As both the comics and the animated Oscar-winning movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) proved, Spider-Man Noir is stylish. Changing an established costume so that it would fit a certain time period style and its aesthetics and at the same time still having it remain recognizable is no easy task.

The comics pulled it off by including several typical film noir elements into the costume, such as a vest or a fedora hat. The costume is, of course, much less colorful than Spider-Man's traditional costume, which fits well with the overall aesthetics. As a result, it's the ideal version of Spider-Man's costume for anybody who likes superheroes as well as the film noir genre.

4 Spider-Man 2099

Even though Peter Parker is the most famous Spider-Man, he's not the only one. In 2099, Miguel O'Hara gains spider powers and becomes the new Spider-Man. He has it even harder than Parker since he lives in a world where people seem to be watched every step of the way and crime is in abundance. The darkness of the world this Spider-Man lives in is mirrored in his suit that's darker than the original red and blue version.

O'Hara improved his costume as time passed, and added new tech, but even the original version looked impressive and fulfilled its purpose. Once again, just like with Spider-Man Noir, Marvel fans who don't read comic books will be able to see more of Spider-Man 2099 in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse that's set to premiere in June 2023.

3 The Superior Spider-Man Suit

Otto Octavius might be a bad guy for the most part, but that doesn't change the fact he's also a genius. He demonstrated this when he took over Peter Parker's body, became the Superior Spider-Man, and also significantly improved Spider-Man's costume. Other than making it slightly darker, which reflected the change of the character of the hero who wore the suit, Octavius also installed multiple upgrades to it.

He improved the web-shooters and used advanced gauntlets, among other things. Octavius's creative and technological genius made for a refreshing version of the Spider-Man suit that not only looked great but also helped its owner to be a more effective superhero.

2 Miles Morales's Costume

When it became obvious that a new Spider-Man would arrive on the scene, not everyone was happy. However, Miles Morales managed to win most fans over thanks to his intelligence, sense of humor, and bravery. He was in many ways relatable since he struggled in his personal life. So did Peter Parker but Miles wasn't a copy of Parker.

Instead, he brought something new and fresh to the character of Spider-Man. As such, even his Spider-Man suit was different, still familiar enough to immediately mark Miles as Spider-Man, but with a style unique to this version of the web-slinger. Miles got his first Spider-Man suit from S.H.I.E.L.D., and the suit not only made him safer but also looked good with a mixture of dark and lighter colors, with dark colors winning over the red one.

1 The Original Spider-Man Suit

Spider-Man Original Costume

Of course, there can only be one best suit and that's the one that Peter Parker used all the way back in the 1960s. When somebody mentions Spider-Man's suit, this is the one that most people think of, especially if they've seen the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire in the leading role.

The suit has everything Peter Parker needs, for the most part, so even when Peter switched it for another one for some time, he always came back to the classic in the end. Spider-Man's original suit has become as much of a symbol as Spider-Man did over the years.
