With one of the best tutorials in mobile gaming, Marvel Snap eases players into one incredible card game, and its more advanced mechanics help to keep those hooks sunk for hours. While other prestige mobile titles rely on pay-to-win mechanics, with certain cards trapped behind a paywall or loot boxes, Marvel Snap goes in the opposite direction, instead only rewarding cards through gameplay. But, if players do want to drop some cash on the otherwise free-to-play game, then they can purchase a range of different card variants, each of which gives a certain character a new piece of featured art.

The best thing about Marvel Snap's card variants is that they don't make a difference to gameplay at all, they're simply cosmetic rewards that show other players how invested the owner is in the game. While a bunch of card variants can be unlocked through gameplay and grinding, to get some of the most unique sets, players may need to drop a few dollars, but their fresh appearance is more than worth it.

Venomized Variants

Marvel Snap Venomized

Some of the most unique character designs in Marvel Snap come from the game's Venomized Variants set. Giving a total of 20 characters a Symbiote makeover, these card variants are some of the most obvert, in-your-face designs in the entire game, ensuring that opponents will take notice. Some of the more subtle designs in the set include Killmonger, who's simply just wearing a venomized Black Panther suit with tendrils coming out of its head, and Scorpion, who's wearing his standard green suit just with a Venom symbol on the front and yellow eyes.

Then there are the set's more aggressive-looking card designs, where the character's appearance has been drastically altered by a Symbiote. Cosmo is one of the standouts here, with half of his adorable puppy face being taken over by a vicious Venom smile, with tendrils extending out of his paws. Deadpool's Venomized variant is also very unique, with the character art displaying a hulking Venom-Deadpool terrorizing a taco truck. Hell Cow's Venomized variant is another disturbing design, with the gigantic beast perched like Spider-Man, but with glowing white eyes, a curling tongue, and red tendrils exploding out of their cape.

The Venomized Variants also have two cards that seem oddly poetic and beautiful. Silk's Venomized design sees the character perched on a nest of gooey tendrils, in front of a stark white background. While the character appears to be her normal self, the stark white background behind her is interrupted by a set of large red jaws, about to close on Silk's head, with tendrils ominously sneaking their way around her. The White Queen also has a beautifully haunting Venomized design, with stark white colors and realistic shadows being used.

Winter Vacation Variants

Getting players into the festive spirit, Marvel Snap also has a collection of Winter Vacation Variants, all of which manage to be some of the most unique designs in the entire game. Abomination's character art is one of the best in the set, depicting the hulking villain as a green Christmas tree, wrapped in multicolored lights and adorned with a Santa hat. Devil Dinosaur's card is incredibly cute, with the giant monster shown to be skating alongside Moon Girl, equipped with oversized skates, a scarf, and a wooly hat. Patriot's card sees him sledding on top of his shield, Rogue's has her wrapped up in warm clothes, flying above a snowy cabin with a hot mug of cocoa, and Ebony Maw's design shows him creating a spiky snowball.

Steampunk Variants

Marvel Snap Steampunk

Inspired by the works of Jules Verne, steampunk often involves the use of clockwork components, goggles, pipes, and copper plating, and Marvel Snap's Steampunk Variants tick all of those boxes. This collection takes 11 cards, and gives them all a Steampunk makeover, dressing characters in old-timey clothes, and giving some high-tech cards a retro aesthetic. Cerebro is one of the standout cards in this set, with the high-tech helmet being given a huge set of goggles on its front and plenty of exposed copper and wiring around it. The Hulkbuster card has some copper gloves, some pipes looping around its arms, and a jet pack that looks as though it's been inspired by The Rocketeer.

Some characters that rely on high-tech weaponry have also been given a steampunk makeover. Wasp's shrinking suit has been completely reinvented, with blue and gold armor plating being held together by a simple harness. Her helmet has also received a redesign, with a large grill for a mouthpiece, and two pipes extending around the helmet. Moon Girl's rollerskates have been swapped out for steam-powered boots, and she's wearing a corset on top of a traditional Victorian frock. Falcon's wingsuit has also been completely changed, with gigantic clockwork gears replacing the shoulder pads, and a cloth material being used for the wings themselves. To top it all off, Falcon is also wearing a hilariously oversized pair of goggles.

Noir Variants

Marvel Snap Noir

One of the most visually-appealing sets, Marvel Snap's Noir Variants take popular characters, and thrust them into the backdrops of old crime movies, with plenty of shadows to go around. Agent Coulson has one of the more subtle, but effective Noir designs, with the character showing their S.H.I.E.L.D. badge while their face is masked in shadow, and the hazy glow of the building behind him lights his suit. Nick Fury follows suit, with his Noir design depicting him in a darkened alleyway, with rain bouncing off his silhouette.

Professor X's Noir design is one of the best in the set, picturing the character inside a dark office. The light from the blinds casts a shadow over his face, reflecting off his glasses to give the character an essence of mystery. Every shape and line in this card variant feels deliberate, and it absolutely nails the Noir art aesthetic. Kingpin's Noir design is fairly similar, with the character standing in shadow, the office buildings outside illuminating his room, his shining knuckledusters, and the man he's just beaten to the floor.
