This article is part of a directory: Marvel Snap: Complete Guide (Best Decks, Best Cards, Tips, & Tricks)
Table of contents

Marvel Snap was developed by the small team, Second Dinner Studios. As the team is composed of Blizzard ex-employees who have worked on games like Hearthstone, it's no surprise that Marvel Snap has some fairly similar aspects with Blizzard's virtual card game. Marvel Snap is considerably simpler than other more in-depth trading card games, like Magic: The Gathering. This makes the game appealing to a wider audience, allowing players of many ages to enjoy the game.

Still, that doesn't mean Marvel Snap can be played without thought-out strategy. The game can prove challenging, especially when going up against a highly-skilled player. When starting out, the game does a wonderful job in explaining itself, so becoming familiar with the rules is easy. However, there are many cards to choose at the beginning. It may be confusing to put together what a player would consider a good deck. The following options are not necessarily the best decks in Marvel Snap, but they're the best for beginners. From the first pool of cards one can obtain within their collection level, there are plenty of combinations of Marvel characters that create a great deck for players who are just starting out.

5 Scarlet Defenders

This deck, canonically aligned with Wanda Maximoff, is powerful. Simply put, the cards situated in this collection have a multiverse of strategies to commit towards.

There are plenty of smart combinations that can dominate a location.

Aside from the obvious characters from the Avengers used here, which gives the deck its name, there's one card that secretly can determine a victory in one move. That card is Onslaught. Onslaught can double the effects of Ongoing cards in the same location, making it a great card for beginners.

This deck is built around the depiction of America Chavez in its lead. She's a 6-cost card, and she can only be drawn on the 6th turn. This also means the player has a shorter deck to draw from (11). This makes her almost completely safe from discard actions and such.

With that, a player can safely use any discarding actions without sacrificing the 6-cost Chavez. Cards like Sword Master, Blade, and Lady Sif can work strategically with the likes of Apocalypse, who comes back stronger when he's discarded.

2 Carnage

carnage and hulk cards

This deck will live up to its fearful name, not only because Carnage is a character card hiding within its 12 allies, but also because those allies are capable of the same destruction. Most of these cards take matters into offensive hands; cards will be destroyed. Rather than being discarded, destroyed cards are the result of another card's ability. For example, Carnage destroys all of his allies in his location, but he gains +2 power for each one he destroys.

The deck focuses on using sacrifices to gain the upper hand. Another noticeable aspect of this aggressive deck is that some characters, like Hulk, rely on pure power. This deck is mean, desperate, and sometimes green.
