Marvel Snap's latest update, which went live on January 31, 2023, adds a new game mode into the mix, Friendly Battle, finally allowing players to battle against friends online, whether on PC or mobile. This has been one of the most anticipated updates to the hit card game, and this guide will go over how it works.

How to Play Against Friends in Marvel Snap

After updating Marvel Snap to its latest version via the App Store, Play Store, or Steam, players should see a new tab between News and Main. This is the Game Modes tab, where Marvel Snap players can find the Friendly Battle mode option to play against their buddies. It's worth noting that players will not be rewarded with boosters or rank awards for playing this mode, even if they win.

Go ahead and press the Friendly Battle game mode to set up a match. One player needs to press Create, giving them a short code. Share that code with a buddy, and they need to press Join and put that code in to get matched up for a match. After a few short seconds, the match will begin, but the rules work a bit differently from normal matches that players are used to.

Friendly Battle Rules

Friendly matches pretty much work entirely the same as random matches, but there's one significant change. Players will notice a health bar with ten notches underneath both players' profile pictures. Both players will start with ten health, and over the course of a few rounds, the health will drop depending on how many Cosmic Cubes are wagered. Of course, the losing player in the round will lose some cubes, and players can continue to keep playing or quit the match entirely.

If two Marvel Snap players end up getting past round 5 without either of them losing all health, players will snap automatically for higher stakes.

Marvel Snap is currently in Early Access for PC and Mobile.
