Marvel have quite the growing selection of games within reach (touch?) in the mobile gaming space, and in a variety of flavors. Gamers are likely aware of the popular Marvel Puzzle Quest match three game, Marvel Contest of Champions fighter, their deck building game Marvel War of Heroes, or the plethora of character focused titles. Now, there’s yet another on the way as Marvel and DeNa have announced new title you’ll soon be able to carry in your pocket.
Coming later this year, Marvel Mighty Heroes will be making its way onto iOS and Android devices as a free-to-play offering. Being touted as a “real-time co-op brawler,” Marvel Mighty Heroes will feature both heroes and villains alike as playable characters with unique abilities and play styles. Marvel Mighty Heroes will also feature four-player multiplayer and leaderboards, so you’ll be able to compete with friends and random players, and work your way up the ranks.
As of now, players can expect to take control of Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Groot. Also featured in the announcement trailer, which can be seen below, are Doctor Strange, She-Hulk, Black Bolt, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Hulk, Gamora, and Thor. If any of the other Marvel titles are evidence, that roster will undoubtedly expand with the vast headcount that exists in the Marvel Universe.
If gamers are looking forward to jumping in, and want a say at who they will be able to play as when Marvel Mighty Heroes drops, they can cast their vote on whether Hulk or Rocket Raccoon will be available for free at launch on the Marvel Mighty Heroes website. Gamers can also sign up for updates on the title and notified when it’s available.
Marvel Mighty Heroes sounds like it will be another fun addition to the Marvel mobile catalog with its selection of heroes and villains, as well as the multiplayer and co-op features. It’s also exciting that they are featuring some lesser known characters that are expected to be introduced in the films that have been announced within Marvel Cinematic Universe roadmap.
Keep in mind that it is free-to-play, meaning that there will undoubtedly be some in-app purchases involved, most likely to unlock characters or power-ups to speed up progression. Only time will tell as we get closer to launch, as Marvel and DeNa reveal more of the title.
