As the comics and films show, the Marvel universe is a massive canvas ripe for game adaptations exploring all its corners. Firaxis is one developer doing just that with its upcoming game, Midnight Suns, which will explore the darker side of Marvel and feature the studio's signature brand of tactical-strategy gameplay. The studio isn't waiting to promote the game, though, as players can currently get a free skin for Marvel's resident vampire hunter seven months before the game's release.

While the game may not release until 2022, players can already unlock the first alternate skin for Blade by signing up for the game's official newsletter. Firaxis shared the promotion on Midnight Suns' official Twitter page and said anyone who signs up for the newsletter will receive the Nightstalker skin. The skin is inspired by Blade's look in The Nightstalkers comic series, which saw the Daywalker team up with Frank Drake and Hannibal King to battle Marvel's version of Count Dracula.

Midnight Suns will see the Marvel universe besieged by the demon Lilith who has joined forces with Hydra, forcing the Avengers to seek help from Marvel's darker heroes. Notable heroes like Captain America and Captain Marvel will fight alongside Blade, Ghost Rider, Magik, and Nico Minoru to stop Lilith plans before coming to fruition. The heroes will also be joined by a new, original character known only as the Hunter, Lilith's daughter and the only one to have ever defeated her.

The game is confirmed to be a turn-based tactical strategy game akin to Firaxis popular XCOM games, 2012's XCOM: Enemy Unknown and 2016's XCOM 2. Firaxis later confirmed while Midnight Suns will have some similarities to the XCOM games, it will not be a clone of the studio's previous work but did not share any additional details. Players will be able to get their first look at what these differences may be during the gameplay reveal on September 1st.

As for the free skin, it's likely the first of many players will be able to get their hands on before and after the game's release. The characters in the debut trailer, alone, have various alternate versions and looks for Firaxis to drop into the game either as earnable rewards or free bonuses like Blade. Captain America, alone, has over 80 years of history to pull from, whether it's his early looks fighting the Nazis during World War 2 or characters like Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes picking up the mantle in Steve Rogers absence.

Midnight Suns is scheduled to release in March 2022 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
