SPOILERS AHEAD FOR MARVEL'S MIDNIGHT SUNSMarvel’s Midnight Suns has rich tactical gameplay that embodies a large chunk of what players will be doing throughout the game, but the other half of the game deals with social elements, like clubs, and Abbey Exploration. Unfortunately for the Deadpool DLC, the Merc with a Mouth doesn't take part in some of these elements like clubs, though fans can befriend and hang out with him, but that doesn't mean there isn't a perfect club for him.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ social systems are only as involved as players would like for them to be, meaning that players could technically skip through each day and night portion of the Abbey and simply head out onto tactical combat missions. This would be a great mistake, though, since the Abbey’s hangouts, havens, and clubs offer some of the best dialogue and character interactions. Clubs in particular are incredible opportunities to see more of their favorite characters.

Between the EMO KIDS, Shop Class, and Book Club, there is a wide range of optional interactions players can enjoy. EMO KIDS will get players closer to Nico Minoru, Magik, and Doctor Strange, for example, while Shop Class will get players closer to Peter Parker, Robbie Reyes, and Tony Stark. Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Deadpool has now been added to the game’s playable roster, and while he has his own friendship levels to increase in hangouts and a haven, he will unfortunately not be attending any of the game’s clubs.

This was confirmed in an interview that Game Rant had with Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Creative Director Jake Solomon, who clarified that no post-launch DLC characters will be involved in the game’s clubs. Game Rant then asked which club Solomon would have liked Deadpool to be a part of, to which Solomon replied,

“Book Club. No question. Everybody in that club is so overly serious besides Wolverine, like, 100 percent. It would be Deadpool. Something like Fifty Shades of Grey, his book would be something where you’re like, ‘oh?!’ And then Wolverine would probably like it, I don’t know. So yeah, I would definitely put him in the Book Club.”

Deadpool being part of the Book Club would have been a perfect marriage of the character’s need to be the center of attention and the club’s otherwise quiet and introspective nature. Seeing how Blade already cannot stand Deadpool, it would have been interesting to see his patience tested while he is also attempting to cuddle up to Captain Marvel. Captain America is as stoic and righteous as any Marvel character can get, and seeing him interact with Deadpool would have been equally exciting.

Then there is the match-made pairing of Wolverine and Deadpool, had he been involved in Marvel's Midnight Suns' Book Club. It is therefore unfortunate that players will not have these interactions come to fruition, but the DLC’s story missions are still incredibly impactful. Deadpool’s character in Marvel’s Midnight Suns is much deeper than fans may anticipate, and his arc is somewhat opposite to what fans may assume his behavior to be toward the established Midnight Suns ensemble.

Deadpool is initially uninterested in befriending anyone at the Abbey, having sunk deeply into his lone role as a mercenary. It will be intriguing if Deadpool has narrative significance in future DLCs as a result, but in the meantime, players will still be able to talk with him and invite him to hangouts if they want to learn more about him on a deeper level.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions coming later.
