This article contains spoilers for Season 1 of Moon Knight.Moon Knight has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most popular new heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After only one six-episode season, fans are already clamoring for more of Oscar Isaac’s white-clad champion of Khonshu.
But while Season 1 of Moon Knight was largely isolated from the rest of the MCU, one of the biggest strengths of a shared universe is the ability for the protagonist of one story to cross paths with the hero of another. As such, the notion of Moon Knight joining forces with other Marvel superheroes is an appealing one to countless viewers. Here are just a few MCU heroes who would be perfect candidates to team up with the Fist of Khonshu.
Spider-Man
Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has been part of the MCU for six years now, making it easy to forget the novelty of seeing the web-slinger share the screen with his fellow Marvel heroes. And while Spider-Man and Moon Knight have never been particularly close in the comics, a potential team-up between them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe presents some interesting opportunities. On the surface, these two heroes couldn’t be any more different — Marc Spector is a hardened mercenary whose powers are mystical in nature, while Peter Parker is an optimistic young hero who specializes in science. However, that very disparity is a major part of what makes this team-up so appealing.
But while Marc Spector may have little in common with Spidey, the same can’t be said for Steven Grant. Both Steven and Peter are awkward, good-natured individuals who would rather reason with their enemies than resort to violence against them. And while Steven is more interested in ancient history than science, he shares Peter’s nerdy exuberance for their respective intellectual pursuits. But more importantly, Spider-Man and Moon Knight have a major thematic commonality: they’ve both suffered greatly from their crime-fighting lives bleeding over into their civilian lives, giving them plenty of shared struggles to commiserate over. Plus, seeing Tom Holland and Oscar Isaac bounce off each other would surely be a treat to watch.
Daredevil
Of course, Moon Knight rarely crosses paths with the more colorful daytime heroes of the Marvel Universe. He’s much more likely to encounter a crime-fighter of the grittier variety, like those featured in the Defenders line of shows. It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine Moon Knight joining forces with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, or the Punisher — and of course, Daredevil. After a three-year absence from the MCU following his show’s cancellation on Netflix, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock made his big-screen debut with a brief yet unforgettable cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. And with his arch-nemesis the Kingpin returning in the season finale of Hawkeye, it’s only a matter of time before the Man Without Fear suits up once again.
In addition to having a distinctly grittier tone than their fellow Marvel superheroes, Daredevil and Moon Knight have plenty in common. They both have unassuming, mild-mannered civilian identities, which contrast sharply with their vengeful crime-fighting personas. And like Marc, Matt struggles with his darker impulses, feeling immense guilt for the violence he commits. But as the post-credits scene of the Moon Knight season finale reveals, Marc has another alter named Jake Lockley, who has no qualms about killing his enemies. And considering his rivalry with the Punisher, there’s no doubt that Daredevil would clash with Lockley’s lethal methods.
Thor
Thor and Moon Knight may seem like an odd duo, considering the massive gap in power between them. But as fans have already seen, Moon Knight’s adventures walk the line between grounded and mythic, gritty and fantastical. And considering Moon Knight’s close connection with Khonshu, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to see him joining forces with another god.
Since the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer offers a tease of Russel Crowe’s Zeus and the other denizens of Olympus, we already know that Thor’s starting to cross paths with other pantheons of ancient myth. A team-up between the son of Odin and the avatar of Khonshu may be likelier than one might think.
Blade
Mahershala Ali’s portrayal of the legendary Daywalker has yet to appear in the flesh within the MCU; so far, he’s only made a brief vocal cameo in the post-credits scene of Eternals. But considering his status as another deadly warrior who fights supernatural creatures, he already has plenty of common ground with Moon Knight. Plus, both heroes were part of a short-lived incarnation of the Midnight Sons — Marvel’s top supernatural hero team — during the 2018 Damnation crossover arc.
Fans have long theorized that Phase 4 of the MCU is setting the stage for a Midnight Sons team-up, so if that ever comes to pass, both Moon Knight and Blade are likely to be members.
Werewolf By Night
Speaking of past Midnight Sons members from the comics, one of Marvel’s most prominent paranormal heroes is Jack Russell, aka the Werewolf By Night. While Russell hasn’t made his MCU debut yet, he’s slated to be the protagonist of the Marvel Halloween special coming to Disney Plus this October, in which he’ll be portrayed by Gael García Bernal (Coco, Y tu mamá también, Old).
Moon Knight’s first comic appearance was in a 1975 Werewolf By Night storyline, in which he served as an antagonist-turned-ally to Russell. Moon Knight and the Werewolf By Night have had several more encounters since then, so it’s only a matter of time until they meet in the MCU.
