It seems the world of cosplay has been enjoying its own little renaissance lately, powering through this socially distanced time of strife (often with the help of that other Strife) with grace and nonstop momentum. Combine that with the world's eternal obsession with Marvel, and the cosplayers of the world have got one heck of a fabric-filled stew going. But it's sometimes easy to forget that not all popular Marvel characters have made their way into the movies and shows just yet.

On that note, please observe and appreciate Manic Starlet Cosplay, an accomplished practitioner of that particular art form and fan of all things Harley Quinn. Yes, after all the talk about Marvel, today's focus is on someone who loves DC. Harley would be proud of such chaos. This cosplayer has got a particular love for the many iterations of that wonderfully deranged alabaster anti-hero, but her latest effort has gone in a bit of a different direction. Trading in the red for a bit of silver, she put together an absolutely fantastic take on Marvel's fabulous thief herself, Black Cat.

Manic Starlet captured the look of Black Cat flawlessly, from the black leather suit down to the fuzzy cuffs and collar. A classic mask and a striking mane of long silver hair complete the ensemble, with a few likely ill-gotten bits of jewelry for good measure. The outfit appears to be based more on the character's look from the comics more than the 2018 PS4 game's version of Black Cat.

Black Cat (alter ego of Felicia Hardy), is an extremely adept thief who isn't exactly a villain but would absolutely hate if you called her a hero. Marching and stealing to the beat of her own drum, she's mostly only concerned with her own affairs. But those affairs often tend to include Spider-Man himself, frequently resulting in a number of run-ins between the two in a professional and occasionally very personal capacity. Suffice it to say, Mary Jane Watson isn't generally a fan of hers.

Similar to Catwoman in the DC universe, Black Cat occupies that oddly specific space for the extremely flirty burglar with a good heart who somehow manages to get away every time. While the designs of both characters tend to gravitate towards the overly sexualized side, often that's more a result of the art style than the actual costume. This is arguably proven by Manic Starlet Cosplay's take on the character, which pays accurate homage to her classic outfit while subtly making things just a touch more practical thanks to a slightly more zipped up front.

Of course, that's all just subjective, and only one part of the cosplay as a whole. In that context, this is a wonderful piece of art. The departure from her usual fare of Harley Quinn and Harley Quinn accessories proves Manic Starlet's range as a cosplay artist, and there's sure to be lots more to come from her in the future.
