'Marvel vs. Capcom 3' Release Date, Special Edition Details

Marvel Vs Capcom 3

On February 15th in North America (February 18th in the EU), the long anticipated sequel to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be released to the world. The latest installment, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, now has a release date; the countdown has an official terminus. Fans will have some months to enjoy other games before the fighting mash-up dominates their gaming time.

Zero and She-Hulk were recently announced as the latest characters to join the fight. The roster will grow even more massive for those who can afford a little extra in February. A Special Edition has been announced that includes two bonus downloadable characters: Jill Valentine, from the Resident Evil franchise, as well as Shuma-Gorath, the one-eyed demonic enemy of Doctor Strange from Marvel Comics lore.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Special Edition

The Special Edition will also feature a steel book-case with exclusive art work, a 'Fate of Two Worlds' 12-page comic that will serve as a prologue to the game, and a 1-month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics, which provides unlimited access to Marvel's online library. The prologue comic, written by Frank Tieri, will feature campaign art and exclusively selected fan art. All of this will be available in this Special Edition that will cost an extra $10 ($69.99).

It seems like a lot will be available for those who spring for the Special Edition Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds package. The extra charge and the content offered for that charge are reasonable enough to give gamers something to think about when they buy the game. With Capcom already expecting sales to surpass those of Street Fighter IV, the announcement of a Special Edition as well as an official release date signifies confidence in the product and gives gamers a specific date to circle on their calendars.

Will you be springing for the Special Edition package? How happy are you that a release date has been pinpointed? Are you ready to decide the fate of these two worlds?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds storms into homes on February 15th (NA), February 18th (EU), 2011 on PS3 and Xbox 360.
