Joystiq recently conducted an interview with Marvel vs Capcom 3 producer, Ryota Niitsuma, and one of the lines of questioning revolved around the possible release of the fighting game on the Wii. The game is already scheduled to release on both Xbox 360 and PS3. Niitsuma toyed with the idea a bit, but never provided a clear answer:

Well, with that, we felt now it's time to do a vs. game on Xbox 360 and PS3. It was just a matter of deciding we wanted to work with those consoles. There's no mindset, personally, within Capcom where we want to go out of our way to avoid Wii or do it only on Wii this time. It's just the flow of development...we can't get into any specifics, but all I can is that the game we made right now, as it is, it's for Xbox 360 and PS3. We want to see how it does and maybe see where we'll take it from there.

There is no doubt in my mind that MvC3 will sell quite a few copies on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The fighting-game community is well-established and will likely buy this title on one of these consoles as soon as the game releases. However, there is a huge amount of Wii owners out there, and thus, a great opportunity to sell MvC3 to a wider audience. While adapting the game for the Wii would obviously involve a downgrade in the graphics department, gameplay is what truly matters. If Capcom can carry over the fluidity and framerate of the title, Wii fans would not care much about losing out on the graphics.

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds brings ridiculous fighting mechanics with overpowered people to the Xbox 360 and PS3 in Spring 2011.
