During Square Enix's E3 Press Conference, Marvel's Avengers got its worldwide premiere. This new E3 2019 Avengers trailer highlights some of the story components and features an epic battle on what appears to be the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as the playable characters and launch platforms (Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One). Speaking of launch, developer Crystal Dynamics also revealed that this new Marvel game will launch May 15, 2020.

This release date should come as no surprise, as a recent fiscal report stated that a release of either the Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Marvel's Avengers in the current fiscal year, much less 2019, was not likely. And while this date may prove to be a wait for many, it gives the developer more time to perfect the game. A lot of expectations are riding on this game, especially given the success of PS4-exclusive Spider-Man, so that time could prove to be crucial.

Yet the details revealed thus far are eye-catching. Marvel's Avengers will focus on the original team (Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow) at first and have 4-player co-op, but the action-adventure game will be broadened with free DLC regions and Marvel characters. Ant-Man was the first teased addition at E3 2019, but more will likely be announced in the coming months, if not weeks.

Developer Crystal Dynamics also promised that Marvel's Avengers will not feature any loot box microtransactions, but it didn't rule out the possibility of an in-game store or standard microtransactions. Regardless, this approach may very well draw in many who are critical of the practices when it launches in May 2020. But as far as what platform to pick it up on depends on how early players want access to special content.

Marvel's Avengers players on PS4 will get content first, with early beta access being the only confirmed bonus. Dates for this beta weren't revealed, though, and the other bonuses were not explicitly stated. It would seem like that this is referring to cosmetic stuff, but until Square or Sony show its hand, that remains to be seen.
