There's a certain camaraderie that comes with actors sharing a screen for years on end. That feeling is apparently alive and well between Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, as proven by some entertaining birthday wishes from Ruffalo to his Avengers co-star on Instagram.

Apparently the chemistry between the two stars in Thor: Ragnarok wasn't restricted to the screen. To celebrate Hemsworth's August 11th birthday, Ruffalo posted a couple of behind the scenes shots from Avengers: Endgame along with his own well-wishes. For fans familiar with the sense of humor that tends to be shared among everyone involved in these films, the chosen pictures will likely not be surprising, but may still elicit a chuckle or two.

The first shot, featuring a charming selfie between Hemsworth and Ruffalo squinting in the sunlight, gives off that awkward quirkiness that everyone and their grandparents have likely experienced while trying to take pictures of their own. Seeing them both in costume (albeit with Ruffalo in full performance capture gear due to the nature of his role) is a lovely juxtaposition to the distinct "Did you take it yet? Where's the lens? Are you counting to 3? Should I smile?" feel radiated by both actors.

Naturally, the second picture is one of those oh so delightful candid shots that seemingly every actor in these films has suffered through (or perhaps posted themselves). Featuring Hemsworth apparently sleeping on the floor in his full "depressed Thor" costume, it almost seems a rite of passage for any given actor to have a picture like this shared with the public. Ruffalo commented on both shots with the appropriate caption, "Hope you are spending your birthday well, brother! (Maybe not partying as hard as the second pic though…)"

Interactions like these are always pleasant to see. It's one thing to see a film and just see the people on screen as their characters (though, granted, some may prefer it that way). But it adds a whole new dimension to see them out of character, acting goofy or simply being their regular selves. It's like watching a lion chase down a herd of antelope before plopping down in the sunlight like a house cat.

With chemistry like this, fans are surely eager to see where these two, along with the rest of the Avengers cast both old and new, go from here. True, production has largely come to a standstill given how 2020 has ravaged most of the good things in life, but that just means there's so much more to look forward to.
