Mark Hamill, famously known for his work as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars and the Joker in several Batman projects, has agreed that he should play the role of Vesemir in Season 2 of The Witcher.

The conversation started when showrunner Lauren Hissrich took to Twitter to break down characters' traits, mostly describing ones the Netflix series has yet to introduce in season 1 of The Witcher. Hissrich described Vesemir as "Fatherly. Wise. Sprightly," and of course, "Ancient." All traits that several fans agreed were befitting of Mark Hamill. Hamill got wind of the conversation and chimed in saying, "I have no idea what this is or what it's about but agree it could/should be played by me."

Hamill is no stranger to the realm of video games, having been in several Batman: Arkham games as well as recently playing Fortnite with Ninja. The conversation happened more than a year ago, so hopefully Hamill has become more acquainted with the series by now. Season 1 of The Witcher only featured a Young Vesemir played by British actor Theo James, best known for his work in the Divergent series. So the role of current day Vesemir is still potentially up for grabs depending on what the series is allowed to do next season.

The ultimate question would be whether or not Netflix can afford the Star Wars A-lister. The reported budget for the recent Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds movie 6 Underground was approximately $150 million. The reported budget for The Witcher series was about $15 million per episode but may increase in the next season. Meanwhile, The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia has already been a massive success and has become one of Netflix's highest-rated shows on IMDb which may lead to bigger name casting in season 2.

With Lauren Hissrich at the helm of the series, it's safe to say the series is in good hands. Hissrich, professionally 'Lauren Schmidt', is also known for her work on The Umbrella Academy and is self-described as a "possibly a Witch(er)" on her Twitter profile. It is incredibly likely that Hissrich saw the Hamill tweet and is doing everything in her power to make the casting happen. There is no word yet on whether Hamill will be joining the cast in season 2 but for now, fans of the series can play as Henry Cavill in The Witcher III as developers have modded him into the game.

The Witcher season 1 is out now on Netflix, and The Witcher III is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
