It is no secret that Mario has starred in a wide variety of games over the past couple of decades. In addition to the mainline Super Mario games, the red-capped plumber has appeared in numerous spin-offs, including an assortment of sports games. While Mario has made appearances in golf, baseball, and even horse racing in Mario Sports Superstars, some of the more unusual entries in the sports collection are the Mario Strikers games. And now a new entry called Mario Strikers: Battle League is right around the corner.

The Mario Strikers series first started on the GameCube back in 2005 with the release of the original Mario Strikers. Developed by Next Level Games, the game stood out due to its over-the-top action, which could be described as a combination of soccer and rugby. While another installment was released in 2007 for the Wii called Mario Strikers Charged, the series has experienced a long drought in new titles since then. Luckily, that is about to change for fans as Mario Strikers: Battle League, the newest game in the series, is about to release. Ahead of the launch, fans received a new look at the title and what to expect from the gameplay.

Recently, Nintendo released four commercials meant to advertise the upcoming launch of Mario Strikers: Battle League. While the clips are short, two are 30 seconds while the other two are only 15 seconds, they still provide eager fans a glimpse at what is coming to the game when it launches on June 10.

Unsurprisingly, the commercials featured chaotic clips of the gameplay, along with giving players another look at many of the game's characters and in-game items, such as Bob-ombs and Big Bananas. Among the highlights of several of the ads were some of the Hyper Strikes coming in Mario Strikers: Battle League. In one clip, Yoshi was seen striking a giant egg towards the ground, which proceeded to bounce several times before exploding into the goal. Furthermore, Hyper Strikes for Mario, Waluigi, and Luigi were seen in the gameplay clips.

In addition to these new Hyper Strikes, another one of the commercials gave gamers a glimpse at some of the new customization options coming to the game. Using Peach as an example, the trailer revealed that not only could players equip different gear to their players, but this gear would impact their stats.

It will be interesting to see what else players learn about the game in the last few weeks before its release. Regardless of whether more details are shown, these new ads for Mario Strikers: Battle League are likely to get many fans of the long-dormant series excited about the latest action-filled installment. Hopefully, the game can find the right balance of nostalgia to bring back old fans along with enough innovation to entice new fans to the series.
