Several months ago, it was revealed that Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle became the best-selling third-party game for the Switch, with loads of Nintendo acolytes flocking to the title to experience its XCOM-esque gameplay set in the Mushroom Kingdom. With this being the case, there are surely a plethora of fans who have already conquered all that the game has to offer thus far, and it looks like they could be waiting a mite longer for more content–particularly when it comes to story DLC.

As seen in the tweet below from the Twitter account "SwitchIndie," a listing on the Japanese eShop page for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle's expansion pass potentially leaked the release date for the game's first story DLC as June 30, 2018. Of course, while the inevitable arrival of more narrative content for the title will be exciting for most fans, it's important to note that the date could simply be a placeholder, and be subject to change.

Furthermore, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle's base game is not yet available in Japan–it's being published by Nintendo for release in the country soon–so the listing on the eShop page for the story DLC's release date might only pertain to the Eastern nation, with a global release coming next. Furthermore, when Ubisoft and Nintendo published details of the post-launch content back in November, specifics were vague and quite limited other than a tease for a new hero. At this point, there's really no telling when the add-on will drop until the companies openly say so.

All things considered, while the wait for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle's story DLC might be longer than fans had hoped for, it's still great to see Ubisoft and Nintendo continuing to support the title after its release. Hopefully, though, the companies will reveal even more post-launch plans for DLC beyond 2018 to keep the Switch title's gameplay fresh well into the future.
