So far Nintendo has been off to a great start with its newest video game console, as the Switch has become the fastest selling Nintendo system ever released. It should go without saying that in order to maintain this head of steam the company will have to bank on constant releases to engage consumers. Fortunately, rumor has it that the hardware manufacturer has partnered with Ubisoft to ensure just that in the form of a new game that combines the universes of Super Mario and the Raving Rabbids.
New details on the alleged project have now been brought forth by Nintendo insider Emily Rogers, whom claims that the game is working under the title of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Not done there, Rogers went on to state that there will be a total of eight playable characters in the Switch title, although she only specifically named dropped Mario, Peach, Yoshi, and Luigi. Furthermore, each character will sport "their own sci-fi weapons, laser guns, arm cannons, etc." which would be very different for the traditionally unarmed cast of Mushroom Kingdom characters.
From the sounds of it, players won't be directly controlling those aforementioned characters, but will instead be able to control them through a small floating dish utilizing the moniker of Tuttorio. Additionally, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will include co-op, although Rogers didn't mention whether this feature would be supported with online or local multiplayer options.
Reports initially stated that the game would be ready for the Nintendo Switch's launch, although it's evident that either Ubisoft or Nintendo opted to hold off on releasing/announcing the software until later this year – provided it is real. As a result, not including Ubisoft seemingly teasing a Mario/Rabbids crossover, E3 2017 would appear to be a proper stage for the game's existence to be made official.
