Though Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle doesn’t have a super intensive roster of characters to pick through, it can still be overwhelming to see just how much choice there is when building each individual character. This is especially the case when it comes to building skill trees.

While each Mario + Rabbids character shines in their own role, some characters definitely need more attention than others in specific parts to really be the best that they can be. It can also be hard to figure out what skills are best - for instance, should players focus on movement skills or attack skills? In this guide, we’ll explain exactly how to help each character excel with the use of their individual skill trees.

When it comes to playing as Mario, there are plenty of choices the player can make. Mario is pretty good across the board, so no matter what choices the character makes when it comes to his skill tree, he’s likely to still benefit regardless. Still, there are a few things that players should consider when putting Orbs into Mario - it's important to consider Mario's strengths in the game. This way, prioritizing where Orbs should be put will be far easier. Mario's strengths lie in him being a short- to mid-range unit.

Firstly, players should focus primarily on unlocking Mario’s attack weapon tree. The ten Orbs it costs to unlock his secondary attack, Melee, is well worth it, as it hits a large range of enemies and does a decent amount of damage. From here, unlocking further attacks and upgrading them to be stronger is a safe bet.

After this, focusing on Mario’s movement tree is very useful; Stomp Jump also only requires ten Orbs to unlock and is incredibly useful. Once players have maxed out Stomp Jump, focusing on Dash Damage is a good idea, especially if players decide to use a dash-heavy style of gameplay. Unlocking Mario's secondary technique is also very good - this will unlock more upgrades for Hero Sight, which is a technique that is certain to be useful throughout the game. Another option here is unlocking M-Power, which is similar to Hero Sight.

As a mid-range character, Rabbid Luigi has a surprising amount of diversity in how he can be played. That being said, there are definitely certain things to focus on unlocking for him that will make him a far stronger character. When focusing on certain parts of his skill trees, they'll make him far more capable of clearing out groups while also having the option to keep him a little further from battle.

Firstly, Vamp Dash (and from there, Vamp Dash Plus) are absolute must-haves for Rabbid Luigi. Much of his character is built around this ability, and it allows him to shine as a self-supporting attacker. Also unlocking Extra Dash in his Movement tree can make Vamp Dash a lot more valuable, too, as it allows him to get more out of each turn.

Beyond Vamp Dash, he has several other abilities that will focus on keeping him around on the battlefield for the longest time possible. It's mostly up to the player to decide how they want to approach the rest of his skill tree, but focusing on his Attack tree next is usually the best way to go. After unlocking Bworb, go into Rocket - this will increase his weapon attack massively, though it comes at the cost of a slow cooldown.

Rabbid Peachmario rabbids princess peach

Rabbid Peach is a valuable unit for healing and movement attacks - as such, this is where players should place their focus with her. This is especially true as Rabbid Peach can often find herself lacking in Orbs throughout the game, making her upgrades that much more valuable.

Firstly, players should focus on unlocking her Stylish Dash in her Movement tree. This will make her a bit more viable as an attacker instead of keeping her entirely focused on healing, giving her a bit more use. Increasing her damage is also helpful, though if you're lacking in Orbs, they'll likely be better spent unlocking further parts of her skill tree.

After unlocking her Stylish Dash, players should focus further on her Technique tree, particularly on Heal. After unlocking Heal, the player gains far more options that are valuable to look into - particularly options like Heal Cooldown and Heal Range that will help her become a far better support.

Luigimario rabbids luigi (1)

As a long-range unit, Luigi will benefit massively from players focusing on his Attack and Technique trees primarily, though he gets a lot of use out of his Movement skill tree, too. His health is quite low which makes him serve far better as an attacker at the back of the party. Thankfully, this is where he excels; player choices should reflect this, too.

Players should initially focus on unlocking Itchy Feet in his Technique tree, and from there, they should move into unlocking and upgrading Mega Itchy feet and any one of the Steely Stare options, focusing on whatever the player would benefit more from. From there, unlocking Sentry is useful for delving into the Attack tree, as High Ground Bonus is very valuable to Luigi due to his play style.

Again, players can get use out of his Movement skill tree, but it has a much lower priority than the other two trees - particularly his Technique tree, which is full of useful boosts to his Steely Stare and Itchy Feet. Dash Damage can be useful, though.

Rabbid Mariorabbids-mario

Rabbid Mario benefits massively from being able to access tons of Orbs. Due to this, there's no real restrictions on what players can unlock on his skill trees, allowing players to move in several directions when choosing what to unlock. Though much of it comes down to personal choice and how players would prefer to play him, Rabbid Mario certainly still benefits from certain skills being unlocked first.

A good idea is focusing on his Attack tree first, as Rabbid Mario is first and foremost a front-line attacker. By unlocking Melee and then High Ground Bonus, players will be able to do far more damage with this tanky unit. Unlocking Magnet Dance in his Technique skill tree is also useful, since he can clear out enemies quickly and efficiently, especially when surrounded by them. This will also help free up other characters to attack or support as they need to. Focusing on the Other skill tree could also be useful, especially if players feel they're struggling with movement.

Though the Movement skill tree is typically very useful in this game, players should be careful when unlocking Boom Dash. While it is a very useful move in combat, it can impact and hurt your teammates. As such, players should definitely think about the full team dynamic when upgrading Boom Dash in any way.

Peachmario rabbids princess peach

The best healer in the game, Peach is also the unit that suffers the most from a lack of Orbs. This can make upgrading her skill trees quite difficult, especially in the early game. As such, players should think carefully about what they want to do with her and how they'd like to play with her.

That being said, Peach does have some parts of her skill trees that are definitely extremely useful for characters to focus on. Unlocking Protection in her Technique skill tree is a good starting point, as she and her teammates will benefit a lot from it being unlocked. However, when upgrading Protection, do not waste all of your Orbs on it - they can be better diverted.

After Protection, players should definitely then focus on her Movement tree, as Peach benefits massively from having her movement range increased. Here, unlocking Healing Jump and then moving into either Healing Jump Range or Healing Jump HP is a good option, though the former is likely more useful to many players over the latter. Her Attack tree is not particularly useful, as Peach really isn't especially suited to be used as an attacker; this should be prioritized last.

Rabbid Yoshimario rabbids rabbid yoshi

Similarly to Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Yoshi has far more options than most other playable characters when it comes to actually being able to unlock most - if not all - of his skill tree. As such, once again, players can also choose what to unlock at their own pace and depending on the way they personally play Rabbid Yoshi.

That being said, focusing primarily on Rabbid Yoshi's Technique and Attack skill trees will likely be most beneficial to players, as skills like Scaredy Rabbid and its upgrades (Cooldown and Range) and upgrades to his weapons through unlocking Grenaduck and upgrades to High Ground are both very useful when playing as Rabbid Yoshi.

At the same time, all characters in this game benefit from extra movement in this game, so focusing on his Movement skill tree will also be useful to players regardless of how they choose to play him. When it comes down to it, this Rabbid's skill tree is very easy to max out - the most players will have to choose from will be how far to upgrade certain skills.

Yoshi

Yoshi on Tortimer Island in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

For many players, it can be very difficult to figure out how to use Yoshi. He's quite a difficult unit to play with, as he isn't the best in any specific area, unlike other characters such as Peach or Rabbid Luigi. As such, players are encouraged to upgrade whatever they feel will work best for them when using Yoshi. However, there are certain skills that will definitely make Yoshi a bit easier to use.

Yoshi benefits from players focusing on his Technique skill tree primarily, as Super Chance is very, very useful when playing with Yoshi. Further upgrades like Super Cooldown and Super Chance Range give even more use to his Super Chance and should definitely be fully upgraded. After this, his Attack tree is worth attention, and some movement-based boosts in the Other tree can be helpful.

However, players should once again be careful with Yoshi's Movement tree. Much like Rabbid Mario, Ground Pound will harm his fellow teammates - as well as this, though, it also breaks cover. This means if players aren't careful, it can be high-risk and low-reward to put a lot into Ground Pound and its upgrades, so be careful.
