Mario Party Superstars is the latest entry in the family-friendly party game and it takes minigames and boards from previous titles in the franchise, with the boards being exclusively from the Nintendo 64 Mario Party games. There are a total of 100 minigames that have been remastered in HD for the Nintendo Switch, and some fans may wonder how many players can hop in on the Mario Party fun. Here's what players need to know about the max players in Mario Party Superstars.

Max Players in Mario Party Superstars

If players are hopping into the Offline Play mode for Mario Party Superstars, the max amount of players is four, similar to past Mario Party titles. Up to four controllers can be connected to a single Switch system and players can challenge each other at Mt. Minigames or choose one of the five game boards in the main Mario Party mode. Of course, these same modes can be played alone or with two, or three players. The game will add computer-controlled players into the mix to make up for the missing human players.

How Many Players Can Play Online in Mario Party Superstars

If players choose to connect to the internet and play online with other Mario Party Superstars players, the max number of players changes a bit, but only for the number of players that can play on a single Switch console. For example, once players create a room at the Friend House, they can choose up to three local players. Since the match needs one free space for another online player, there cannot be four local players on one Switch going against other players online.

This is different for random online matches, however. Only one player on a single Switch system can hop online for a random Mario Party Superstars match. This type of online play randomly pairs four players from around the world and throws them into one of the Mario game boards.

There's also a type of minigame in Mario Party Superstars that falls under the "Duel" category and only two players can partake in these. So if players are trying out the minigames via free play mode, they should keep that in mind if they're playing with four people.

Mario Party Superstars is available for the Nintendo Switch.
