In its next update, launching on October 4, Mario Kart Tour will finally be adding Battle Mode to the game. As a mobile companion to the Mario Kart games, Mario Kart Tour has proven to be an incredibly popular title on iOS and Android, allowing fans to race on the go. Combining old favorites and some new tracks exclusive to Mario Kart Tour, the game has been consistently updated with more content for its players, and some of these racecourses have even made their way into the DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Alongside introducing new tracks, the developers for Mario Kart Tour have also changed some other features of the game. Recently, Mario Kart Tour got rid of its gacha mechanic, which proved to be an incredibly controversial feature as it was essentially another version of a loot box. Players were able to gain significant boosts through randomly getting drivers, gliders, karts, and more through the gacha mechanic in Mario Kart Tour, something that proved unpopular even when the game first launched in 2019.

Now, rather than remove another feature from Mario Kart Tour, the developers at DeNA are adding an incredibly popular mode to the game in its next update, which launches on October 4. There are multiple Battle Modes that have appeared in Mario Kart, with each focusing on a different objective besides coming first in a race. Mario Kart Tour's Battle Mode features Balloon Battle, where players must utilize items to pop three balloons over another player or NPC's head. Shells, banana peels, bombs, and more can be used to knock out players, leading whichever team or player who is left with balloons crowned as the winner.

Mario Kart's Battle Mode is an incredibly popular alternative to the usual races people can experience in the franchise. It has featured in every game since Super Mario Kart, though Balloon Battle was notably missing from the original version of Mario Kart 8, which featured an odd twist on the Battle Mode as it let players duke it out on the regular racetracks. Mario Kart Tour will feature two Battle courses in GBA Battle Course 1 and GCN Cookie Land.

Also, in the new update, alongside the introduction of Battle Mode, players will be able to access a new Green Racing suit for their custom Mii characters in Mario Kart Tour. As more tracks continue to be added to Mario Kart Tour alongside features from the previous entires in the franchise, the mobile spin-off of Mario Kart is feeling more and more like a proper entry in the franchise.

Mario Kart Tour is available now for mobile devices.
