Nintendo is not in a favorable position with its Wii U console, but the company is banking on a lineup of quality first-party software to pull its platform out of the sales slump it currently finds itself in. Ninty had a solid lineup at this year's E3, showcasing Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the first time ever — both of which are confirmed to launch later this year.
While the Big N will find some success for the Wii U with those games, it's the imminent arrival of Mario Kart 8 that has many gamers excited. The game was confirmed by Nintendo to be a 2014 release, but no one was entirely sure just when the title was scheduled to hit retailers.
It appears as if Nintendo of Europe knows the game's release window, as it issued a newsletter claiming that Mario Kart 8 will be launching at some point in April 2014. Spotted by a keen NeoGaf user with the username 'Hero of Legend', Twitter user @DeSaro posted an image of the newsletter from NoE that all but confirms Mario Kart 8's April release — albeit in Spanish.

Anyone anxious to tear through the kart-bound competition should take this news with a grain of salt, but a Spring release doesn't seem too far-fetched.
Our hands-on time with Mario Kart 8 was so much fun that a few members on staff went back and played it a second time. The anti-gravity features that are being rolled out in this installment add a nice level of variety to the standard MK formula, and fans will be in for a nice surprise whenever Nintendo does get around to releasing the game on Wii U.
Mario Kart 8 will be dashing onto the Wii U at some point in 2014.
