Nintendo may still be struggling to expand upon the Wii U's current install base, but that hasn't prevented Mario Kart 8 from be a rousing success for the firm. After the title managed to sell 2.82 million units in a little over a month's time, Nintendo was quick to announce plans to support the title post-release through several different means.

One way the Big N will continue to offer content will be through its upcoming toys-to-life line called Amiibos, while another means of drawing more attention to the title will be arriving via a cross promotion with Mercedes-Benz. Yes, when the deal was first announced this past May, gamers were baffled and eager to get their digital kits all over the shiny new add-on content. Now, after several months, they finally will be able to in a few weeks' time.

Scheduled to hit across several markets in August, the spiffy new Mercedes-Benz branded karts will be arriving very soon. Just how soon? Well, North American Mario Kart 8 users can now book August 27, 2014 down as the day they'll be able to school their friends using their Mushroom Kingdom-ified dream car.

Mario Kart 8 Mercedes DLC Coming to America

Included in the free content pack that will arrive via an update are three different types of Mercedes-Benz vehicles for players to utilize. They are none other than the 2014 GLA SUV, the 1934 W25 Silver Arrow and the 1957 300 SL Roadster. Sounds like some spiffy new additions to a game that's already listed in our top five games of 2014 list.

It's unknown if Nintendo will follow suit and offer even more downloadable content for Mario Kart 8 down the road, but for now the additional content is sure to encourage fans to once again boot up their copy of the well-recieved racer.

Mario Kart 8 is currently available exclusively on Wii U.
