A new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe trailer has been released, confirming the release date for Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass. The content arrives more than three months after the release of Wave 2 of Booster Course Pass, adding a new series of content for Switch players to enjoy while the Mario Kart franchise does not see the release of a brand-new game.

Mario Kart 8 was released for Wii U in 2014, and saw the release of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe port for Switch in 2017. The new version of the title brings the base game and DLC content, and some new features like a reworked Battle Mode and more playable characters available. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe proved to be a bestseller with fans, who were surprised at the February 2022 Direct. Nintendo revealed the Booster Course Pass, a long term DLC in which remastered and new courses would be added to the game over time. Now Wave 3 is coming, and specifically with a touch of 2000s nostalgia.

Booster Course Pass Wave 3 will be available starting December 7 at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members, or as a paid DLC costing $24.99. As with the release of Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass, Wave 3 will introduce two new Cups with four courses each. The Rock Cup features the GBA Boo Lake from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, 3DS Rock Rock Mountain from Mario Kart 7, Wii Maple Treeway from Mario Kart Wii, and Tour London Loop from Mario Kart Tour. The Moon Cup includes the Tour Berlin Byways and Merry Mountains courses from Mario Kart Tour, DS Peach Gardens from Mario Kart DS, and the 3DS Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 7.

With the announcement of the release date of Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still has three more waves of content to offer players. In this way, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will receive 16 more courses throughout 2023, bringing the total of 48 courses available in the game. Previously a leaker revealed courses that can be added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that are not yet present, such as Vanilla Lake and Sunset Wilds from Super Mario Kart.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe became the best-selling game in the Mario Kart franchise in 2021. The original Mario Kart 8 introduced antigravity sections as new features, which allowed players to drive on walls and ceilings and create alternate paths. The game also introduced all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and the Koopalings, Baby Rosalina, and Pink Gold Peach as new playable characters.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
