Although the Golf Adventure mode in Mario Golf: Super Rush starts out as a simple story about a rookie golfer, things take a sudden and dramatic turn once players have completed the first nine holes of Speed Golf at Wildweather Woods. Toad will recommend going to see a coach at the nearby practice range and players will learn several new useful techniques upon doing so.

Once their training has been completed, they'll then be sent to investigate two unusual mustached gentlemen who have been causing trouble near Wildweather Woods' lightning god statue. When players arrive in the area containing the statue, they'll find Wario and Waluigi, who are trying to get their hands on the statue's magical lightning sword.

The Three Great Trials

Shortly after the player's arrival, Wario and Waluigi will flee and the statue will begin to talk to the player telepathically. It offers to entrust its power to the player for the good of the kingdom, but only if they are able to complete three great trials. Thankfully, none of these trials are particularly difficult and, even if they were, players can take as many attempts as they like to complete them.

The Trial Of Distance

To complete the Trial of Distance, players will need to land three consecutive lightning orbs inside the blue circles that appear on the other side of the vines. It doesn't matter which order players tackle them, although as missing a shot resets all three circles, it probably makes sense to aim for the one that's furthest away first.

The three blue circles are placed 100, 150 and 200 yards away from the tee position respectively, allowing players to plan ahead a little. Which clubs they should bring will depend on how many attribute points they've used to increase their Mii golfer's power stat, although it is technically possible to just hit all three shots with a driver by adjusting the power level accordingly.

The Trial Of Loft

After completing the Trial of Distance, players will be able to move on to the Trial of Loft, in which they'll once again need to land three consecutive lightning orbs within the blue circles. This time, however, there'll be a wall of water in front of them, so they'll need to use the newly-learned lob shot technique in order to get the orbs on target.

Players will therefore need to double tap the Y button to select the Super Lob shot and then aim for the center of the circle they're targeting. Anywhere between half and full power should work, although players will need to get either Nice or Perfect timing on the Duff Shot meter after they have locked in their power to avoid scuffing the shot.

The Trial Of Timing

The final trial that players will need to complete is the Trial of Timing. This has them using the Duff Shot technique that Master Duff taught them a little earlier on to return three of the statue's lightning balls. They don't need to be returned consecutively like the previous trials, although there is a three minute time limit that some players may need to keep an eye on.

Before they can attempt a Duff Shot, however, players will first need to wait for a lightning ball to hit the ground. They'll then need to stand on top of the raised circle where the ball landed and tap the A button to get in the correct stance. From here, it's a simple case of getting either Nice or Perfect timing and then repeating the process two more times to complete the final trial.
