The last game was in 2014 via Mario Golf: World Tour on the 3DS, so players have been waiting a long time for this. Now, as easy as this game can be, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to know a few tips and or things about it before jumping into Mario Golf: Super Rush on Switch.

Updated on August 12, 2021 by Ritwik Mitra: Mario Golf: Super Rush serves as an excellent refinement of the Mario Golf formula, allowing players to play as their favorite character from the Mario franchise as they settle down for a relaxing time. Of course, the addition of Speed Golf has integrated a mode that makes a laid-back game of golf infinitely more hectic. In this mode, players dash through the course, bowl over opposing players, and destroy the opposition. The latest free update has added a ton of content, such as the inclusion of Toadette as a playable character and New Donk City as a playable course. Those who want some of the best Mario Golf: Super Rush tips and tricks need only read through this article.

10 Pay Attention To Incline While Putting

Putting from the fairway in Mario Golf: Super Rush

A big part of sinking a ball in Mario Golf is landing a putt with pinpoint accuracy. Given the erratic placements of some of the holes in Mario Golf, this is easier said than done. More often than not, players trying to putt their shots will end up missing the hole by inches, which is easily one of the most frustrating things in the entire game.

This is why paying attention to the incline of the ground while trying to land a putt is absolutely essential. The top-down view already gives an idea about the uphill or downhill nature of the shot, meaning that players need to overhit and underhit their shots respectively for a better putt. However, whether the ground is inclining towards the left or the right is also a factor that needs to be taken into account as well. The lines that are drawn while putting help in this regard, as they move in the direction of the land's incline.

9 Take Into Account The Elevation Of The Targeted Ares

When hitting a shot towards the hole, players should be strongly aware of the elevation at which the hole resides. This can be seen in the top-down menu, with the uphill or downhill nature of the hole's elevation being stated promptly along with the degree of elevation as well.

This is important to nail shots, since the power of the shot needs to be decided by the elevation as well. Uphill shots require more power to travel a greater distance, while downhill shots need to be underpowered so that the ball doesn't end up soaring over the hole.

8 What To Level Up

In the Golf Adventure mode, players can level up their Mii in five different categories. Power helps players hit the ball further, and Spin effects how powerful their technique is with spinning the ball. Stamina allows players to run more, while Speed effects how fast they can run.

The final stat is the one players should focus on leveling up first. Control makes it easier to hit the ball straight, getting rid of variables that could hinder a player's progress. like landing in a sand trap.

7 Pay Attention To Players Behind You

Speed mode is new to the Mario Golf series, and is this game’s main gimmick. It has players hitting their balls at once, and then chasing after them.

During this mode, pay attention to opponents running from behind. Every Mario character has a special that can knock players down as they run. This can also cause a loss of coins if hit. On the plus side, this also means that players can effect opponents with a well timed rush attack.

6 Players Can Effect Someone Else’s Balls

There is another way to effect someone’s ball during Speed mode in Mario Golf: Super Rush. It does not require a special move either, and is one of the better Mario Golf tips around. Running into another player's ball on the field will cause it to roll. Fooling around with an opponent’s ball can be a waste of time, though, so don’t mess with it too much. The main goal is to finish the course first.

Balls can also be effected by golf moves. For example, Luigi uses an ice flower that covers the ground in ice wherever his ball lands. This can make other balls roll all over the place, along with characters who step in the zone. Of course, some power shots end up affecting balls upon impact, which makes it important to wait for other players to hit their shots before foiling their plans with a well-placed super shot.

5 When To Dash

There is a technique to mastering the dash ability in Mario Golf: Super Rush, other than avoiding and or effecting other players. Running causes stamina to run out. If a player stops running, their meter will start to fill up again. So far, those are the standard basics of any video game with a stamina meter.

In addition to a normal run, players can also use their special move for an even bigger burst of speed. This can be done when the meter is green. Players should also note that hearts litter the courses, and that running into them will heal stamina. The goal here is to burst at the start of the running phase of a game, and to keep that momentum going by running into hearts.

4 Don’t Forget To Visit The Shop

Having trouble winning a game in Golf Adventure? There are other ways to get a leg up on opponents other than grinding out levels. Don’t forget to visit the shops in every course area.

From new clubs to new shoes, these pieces of gear can make all the difference. If one is diligent enough in playing, then coins should not be a problem just like in other Mario games. There are no 1-Ups here though.

The AI in Mario Golf: Super Rush does a decent job of auto-selecting the right club for the current situation. However, it’s not always perfect. Sometimes on a Par 5, it reduces the club so that it won’t hit the max length. This can be good sometime, as smaller clubs can get around obstacles in the way, like rocks or trees, which does make sense.

Other times, though, it doesn’t make as much sense. Players need to pay attention to what club they are using before taking a swing. Also, sometimes it is better to use a putter even if the player isn't on the flag grass yet. This Mario Golf: Super Rush tip is solid advice for any golf game, and landing a putt from far away is a satisfying moment that can't be experienced if the player sticks to what the game tells them.

2 Pay Attention To Goals

There is a good variety of ways to play in this title, other than what would otherwise be a standard golf game. One can play Mario Golf: Super Rush by strokes just like in real life, or spice things up by adding running to the mix in Speed mode. This can be played in two different ways: score and time.

In a timed run, getting a good score doesn’t matter at all — it’s literally just about time. Meanwhile, the score version plays like normal except, that a better time can make the difference in a tied scenario. Speed mode is just one example of how the game can be played differently, so pay attention to goals before figuring out a golf strategy.

1 Cut Corners On Courses

Along with selecting the right club in Mario Golf: Super Rush, it should be emphasized that players should cut corners when it seems like a viable option. Playing too risky might mean the player's balls will wind up in a sand trap or water, which can be incredibly detrimental to a player's final score.

While it may look like a ball might make it over a lake, wind can effect its trajectory along with how well the player hits the ball. Sometimes it’s best to play the game on the safe side, but secret shortcuts are also a big part of the Mario franchise. The player needs to find the perfect balance of each so that they can master the gameplay nuances of Mario Golf.
