Mario Golf: Super Rush brings the tried and true sports series to the Nintendo Switch for the first time, and fans are in for quite the treat. There are several new features and elements in play in this new entry and some new faces. This guide will detail Mario Golf: Super Rush's online multiplayer capabilities for fans who are wondering.

Does Mario Golf: Super Rush Have Online Play?

Long-time fans should be happy to know that, yes, Mario Golf: Super Rush does indeed have online multiplayer, but the details are scarce at the moment. Considering that the game has yet to launch on the Switch, the exact info on how the multiplayer will work is up in the air, but according to Nintendo, players will be able to connect with up to four friends online or with strangers it seems like. Per the description on the game's official site, it states that players will "Hit the green with up to four players locally or online and golf with friends from the Super Mario series like Mario, Peach, Yoshi, and more."

Nintendo also mentions that players that want to connect with others online will need to be subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online service, which is an additional cost. Being subscribed to the service not only allows users the opportunity to play online games, but they also have access to over 100 classic games via the NES and SNES applications.

How to Connect With Other Mario Golf: Super Rush Players

As far as how players will connect with friends and strangers online, it hasn't been confirmed by Nintendo just yet. None of the promotional trailers for the game haven't shown the process that players will need to go through to join a friend's game, but like other Nintendo titles with online functionality, players might need to create a lobby and then share that lobby ID with friends. Or, as long as players are friends with each other on the Switch, the game could use a different method, allowing folks to join each other's games without any special code or ID.

However it may work, at least players know that they'll be able to connect with friends online in some way with Mario Golf: Super Rush. And with the game confirmed to be getting additional post-launch content, there should be plenty of content to keep fans satisfied.

Mario Golf: Super Rush launches on the Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2021.
