Years after the last release, Mario Golf: Super Rush has finally been released for Mario Sports enthusiasts to get their hands on. And now, with the newest advancements in Nintendo technology, fans can use the Joy-Con's motion controls for Mario Golf gameplay.

The two different gameplay options, button and motion controls, allow gamers to experiment with different playstyles for what they prefer. Whether it is sticking to the classic concise gameplay of button controls or feeling the motion of the golf swing like in Wii Sports, the opportunities are endless.

However, fans unfamiliar with motion controls might be confused about how they work for this game, especially on the Nintendo Switch. So for Mario Golf: Super Rush fans looking to understand the motion controls better and possibly improve their gameplay, here is how it works.

How to Use Motion Controls in Super Rush

For starters, this option to switch between controls will be available for players in the options menu, and they will also need to set which controller they are using. The buttons for the motion controls are also similar to the standard button controls but vary depending on which Joy-Con gamers are more comfortable with.

The L or R button can be used for a practice shot. SL and SR are the buttons to shoot the ball. Left and right on the control stick are how players shape the shot, versus the up and down motion on the control stick is how gamers change their club. Lastly, B or Up on the D-Pad is how players can access top view, and A or left D-Pad uses the Range Finder.

Gamers should make sure they have the Joy-Con strap on and enough space around them to efficiently perform a golf swing without hitting any furniture, let alone the TV. Hold the Joy-Con in the non-dominant hand and place the dominant hand alongside it. Put the thumb on the SL or SR Button and make sure that this button is facing upwards, or else it won't work as well. Once everything is correctly aligned, players can move their bodies like they are performing a golf swing and hit the ball.

It is advised that gamers practice their swings first with the L button to get a feel for it first. While the button controls can be considered more precise, motion controls add a little more excitement to the physicality of the golf swing and are perfect for casual Nintendo players. Hopefully, this guide is helpful for people looking to enjoy the game with a fresh new perspective.
