Margot Robbie, well-known for her portrayal of Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey, wants the romance between Harley and Poison Ivy to finally make its way to the movies. It seems like everybody has a preferred "ship" between characters, and it just so happens that Robbie's ship is already canon in several different forms of media. So what's one more?

After playing the character since 2016's Suicide Squad, Robbie's take on Harley Quinn has been one of the most beloved. But while James Gunn has confirmed that Harley Quinn will return in the DC Extended Universe, there's nothing concrete about when fans will see Robbie in the role again. Even so, the actress already has plenty of ideas for where things should go from here. In particular, she'd love to see the fan-favorite "Harlivy" pairing make its way to the big screen.

"I have been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I've been pushing for that. I want it too," Robbie said of the pairing when speaking with ComicBook.com. Between the comic books and the brilliant Harley Quinn animated series, Harley and Ivy have gotten together in several stories, some more successful than others. But what's remained constant is the positive reaction from fans when they see the two chaotic personalities together, proving that there's some staying power behind the couple.

As for who should play a DCEU Poison Ivy, Robbie is a little less certain on that front. "Honestly, when I pictured, I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics," she admitted. "I don't really actually picture an actress doing it, but I agree, that would be so good." As strange as that might sound on the surface, it sort of makes sense. Several comic fans love the idea of their favorite moments being adapted in live-action, but it's often hard to divorce their love of the drawn medium from that process.

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy have starred together in plenty of excellent comic stories, making such a transition to the DCEU feel almost inevitable at this point. Fans were immediately on board when HBO Max's animated Harley Quinn show finally got the two of them together, and that's only the latest in a long stream of romantic portrayals. The show depicts them as a loving and supportive, albeit not exactly perfect, couple. But their willingness to work on their issues goes a long way in making the whole thing feel that much more legitimate, which could help prove that such a thing would work in live-action as well.

Now that Gunn has a bigger leadership role at DC Studios, maybe his time working with Robbie will make him more open to listening to her suggestions. Between Marvel and DC, he's always had a knack for bringing out the best in both worlds. So it wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume he'll see the value in bringing one of comics' favorite couples to Hollywood.
