9 Jujutsu Kaisen

The first name that comes to mind when thinking of MAPPA's other animated projects is Jujutsu Kaisen. The series is full to the brim with some of the best animated fight sequences in anime history.

It helps that Jujutsu Kaisen also features some excellent character and story writing that keeps it compelling from the very first episode. Fans can only wait and see how Itadori's powers will evolve over time, given the sheer amount of potential he's already shown.

8 Hajime No Ippo: Rising

Ryuhei Sawamura From Hajime No Ippo

Hajime no Ippo is another popular MAPPA anime that people must've heard of. They took over the reins for the third season and did a brilliant job with the same.

The incredible animation is what sets Hajime no Ippo apart from the rest of its competitors. It was a taste of MAPPA's incredible animation quality, although fans had to invest their time and watch quite a few episodes if they wanted to know what was going on in this series.

7 Yuri!!! On Ice

The main characters from Yuri!!! on Ice posing at the rink

Yuri!!! on Ice was one of the most popular anime around the time of its release. Sports anime can be pretty engaging in their own right, and Yuri!!! on Ice definitely succeeds within the confines of its premise.

The stellar animation and amazing character writing are two of the best parts of the series. The fact that this story is anime-exclusive makes this achievement even more impressive!

6 Banana Fish

Speaking of emotional stories, it's hard not to talk about Banana Fish. This is an anime that everyone needs to watch, mainly due to its brilliant characters and storytelling.

It helps that the animation is brilliant and serves as the perfect cherry on top of this amazing cake. The ending makes for a bittersweet farewell, although its saddening nature is part of the reason why Banana Fish is so popular.

5 Dorohedoro

the protagonist with a lizard head showing another character the inside of their mouth.

The post-apocalypse has proven to be a great setting in both movies and TV shows. So, there's no reason for anime to not get a share of the spoils, either.

Fans looking out for great post-apocalyptic anime should look no further than Dorohedoro. It's a great show that documents the journey of the amnesiac Caiman, a man with the head of a crocodile who is easily one of the best parts of the show.

4 The God Of High School

The God of High School

For the longest time, people thought that the underrated medium of manhwa would never get the proper adaptations they deserved. However, the advent of shows like The God of High School has changed that notion quite a bit.

That being said, this adaptation is far from perfect. Arcs come and go at a frenetic pace and the anime has shown no signs of continuing after the first season. These measly twelve episodes do nothing but tease the viewer, who will either have to stay content with being in the dark or just read the manhwa instead.

3 Dororo

Dororo and Hyakkimaru Dororo anime

Dororo is the readaptation of an anime that aired all the way back in 1969. Given the dated nature of this series, some modernizations needed to happen for this series to remain relevant. This was achieved with some changes and inclusions made by MAPPA.

Hyakkimaru's character was changed to make him more exciting, with his history also being explored in a neat manner. This, coupled with the natural evolution of his character and Dororo's, makes for a great watch that holds up in a modern context.

2 Zombie Land Saga

Group shot of all the idols from Zombieland Saga anime.

Zombie Land Saga is an anime that got extremely popular after its debut. The idea of a zombie idol group trying to hide their identities and living out their days in the modern world sounds like a pretty interesting concept indeed.

The anime definitely does a great job of making these zombified idols the most entertaining parts of the show. Again, this is an anime-original story, which is a massive achievement in its own right.

1 Ushio & Tora

Ushio & Tora anime

Ushio & Tora is a series that not many people are familiar with, mainly due to the amazing dynamic between the two lead characters. They are a joy to witness on-screen and are easily the best part of the entire show.

The manga might've been active during the mid-90s, but that does nothing to take away from the brilliance of this show regardless. It's an amazing series that fans of MAPPA's animation and comedic chops would love.

SPECIAL MENTION: Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man - Still Frame From The Mappa Anime Trailer

This might be cheating, especially since Chainsaw Man hasn't started airing yet. However, the sheer amount of hype for this manga and its adaptation makes it impossible not to mention this in a list of MAPPA's animated works.

The idea of MAPPA's skilled animators bringing life to this brilliant shonen series is incredible to even think about, and fans can't wait to see how this series will evolve over time. Given the gory and over-the-top nature of its fight sequences, Chainsaw Man is poised to be a visual treat for the ages.
