The Manga Planet subscription service announced the addition of over 150 Kodansha USA titles which will take place this month. Popular series like Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Fire Force, and Inuyashiki will be added to the service alongside plenty of others.

The Manga Planet Service launched in 2019 and charges users USD 6.99 per month for access. Subscribers have unlimited access to a large library of English-translated manga from a variety of publishers alongside works from independent artists.

Manga Planet has worked with an array of other publishers before the deal with Kodansha. The subscription service paired with LEED Publishing, Bunkasha Publishing, Home-sha, San-Ei Corporation, Kaiohsha Publishing, MugenUp, Shodensha Publishing, Starts Publishing Corporation, K.K. HarperCollins Japan, and Tokuma Shoten Publishing in the past.

The Manga Planet service is a collaboration between Dai Nippon Printing and Fantasista, Inc. Though the service itself launched in 2019, Manga Planet started as a Facebook page in 2012. It would make its first foray into publishing with 2017s The Golden Age of Decadence and After School! series. Dai Nippon Printing also operates online book retailer Honto.jp, which sells both digital and physical products.

Kodansha USA is a subsidiary of the larger Kodansha Ltd, and was established in 2008. The group localizes Kodansha titles for the English market. Kodansha USA began publishing old Tokyopop titles after their licenses had expired, and would do the same with Del Ray titles after the imprint shut down in 2010.

Aside from the imprint’s more recognized titles, readers can expect other popular Kodansha USA series like Yoshitoki Oima’s To Your Eternity, PETOS’ Interviews with Monster Girls, Ken Akamatsu’s Negima!, and Jin Kobayashi’s School Rumble among others.

Manga Planet also offers users a three-month subscription plan of USD 17.99 and a six-month subscription of USD 29.99 as alternatives to the standard monthly fee.
