Ever since it hits Disney Plus late last year, The Mandalorian has easily become one of the most exciting new additions to the world of Star Wars since it was resurrected back in 2015. While many loved the show for its look into the seedy underbelly of the franchise's universe - including showcasing how the titular Mandalorian bounty hunters kill their targets and witnessing space pirates hijacking freighters - it also saw the debut of Baby Yoda, who became a significant presence online.

Luckily for fans of the show, it seems there will be far more of the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda's adventures coming to screens very soon, with Disney allegedly entering pre-production on a third season of the show. In a lot of ways, this is far from a surprise, with The Mandalorian becoming one of last year's biggest television events and a major talking point online.

The report about the status of a third season comes from Variety, who claims "Sources close to the production have confirmed that creator Jon Favreau has been "writing season 3 for a while," and that the art department, led by Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang, has been creating concepts for Season 3 for the past few weeks."

Of course, fans are still waiting for the second season of The Mandalorian, which supposedly wrapped filming very recently. The show is scheduled to hit screens this October, meaning Star Wars fans don't have to wait long to see more of the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda's intergalactic hijinks.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is rumored to be in pre-production.
