Even though Din Djarin’s beloved ship the Razor Crest was reduced to spare parts during the events of the second season of The Mandalorian, one fan has committed a huge amount of time and money to make a life-size replica of the gunship.
Fans will recognize the Razor Crest as the ship flown by Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal). A retired gunship that’s seen better days, the Razor Crest is more than just a vessel to Djarin, it’s also his home. Sadly, the ship was blown to smithereens by a single shot fired from Moff Gideon's light cruiser in the season 2 episode appropriately titled The Tragedy. While this episode saw the triumphant return of fan-favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett, it also saw Djarin lose his home and ended with his little green force-sensitive adopted son being kidnapped.
Perhaps the next season of The Mandalorian will take Djarin to Russia, where one very committed fan decided to rebuild a life-size replica of the Razor Crest. Originally reported by CBS News, a fan in Yakutsk, Russia who goes by the name Just Ayaal has been putting together a gigantic model of the Razor Crest over the past year. The project took roughly a year due to initial funding issues coupled with the added difficulties imposed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic
According to Nerdist, the project was completed only after a friend sold his car and other backers pitched in to help finance it. The replica is reportedly 46-feet long, 33-feet wide, 13-feet tall, and contains a replica console in the cockpit. But don’t expect this model to take flight anytime soon, as it apparently weighs over one ton.
Season 2 of The Mandalorian was incredibly eventful for Din Djarin. On top of losing his ship/home, the sophomore season saw Djarin encounter new friends and enemies alike, including fellow Mandalorian hideaway Bo-Katan, and even Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in a cameo that broke the internet. Little is known about what will happen in season 3, but series creator Jon Favreau has confirmed that the show will connect to Disney’s divisive sequel trilogy.
The success of The Mandalorian has also spurred several other upcoming live-action Star Wars TV shows, such as the spin-off series following fallen Jedi Palawan Ahsoka Tano and Rangers of the New Republic. Until then, fans will have to bide their time making gigantic replicas. Maybe if he’s asked nicely, Ayaal will make a life-size model of Boba Fett’s incredibly cool and poorly named ship Slave 1.
