Accessories are a big selling point for companies like Microsoft and Sony, which continue to create new versions and color swaps of their popular console controllers. Just last month, Sony introduced four new colors for its PlayStation 4 DualShock controllers, which quickly got the community very excited for upcoming designs like Rose Gold. Not to be out done, Microsoft also just announced a brand new controller color that's actually available starting today.

Introduced by Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, the latest addition to the growing stable of Xbox One controllers is the Midnight Forces II Special Edition. Continuing the blue camouflage-pattern from its predecessor, this latest rendition is available today at $64.99 and can be used on both the PC and Xbox One.

Xbox One players can also pick up a matching Pro Charging Stand with a magnetic contact system that ensures a secure and snug fit when the controller is placed on it. The stand also comes with a six-foot cable, rechargeable battery, and retails for $49.99.

The community response has been relatively positive, though many are confused by what exactly makes this controller any different from the first Midnight Forces controller. The initial design launched back in 2014 with a very similar blue color pattern as this new one, which is likely causing much of the confusion. This new take on that popular design adds in a few modern touches including a textured grip, impulse triggers, customized button mapping with the Xbox Accessories App, and a 3.5mm stereo headset jack to provide the user with a more immersive experience.

The announcement comes on the heels of a huge Xbox controller sale currently happening at the Microsoft Store. The discounts extend to all sorts of different color and design options, including some very new styles like the Gears 5 Kait Diaz Limited Edition controller. Players looking for various Xbox gaming accessories will also find slashed prices at the Microsoft Store for things like external hard drives, gaming headsets, and more. It's unclear how long this sale will last, so players who are in the market for new controllers or accessories should act quickly.
