Harry Potter is one of the most popular franchises of all time, both when it comes to literature and movies. With thousands of fans, the franchise continues to grow and stay relevant to this day. However, there's only a limited number of movies that Harry Potter fans can watch before they run out of them.

One option is to do constant re-watches but that's not the ideal solution for everyone. Luckily, there are multiple magical movies, both old and new pieces, that take place in different worlds but might still be entertaining and intriguing for all Harry Potter fans.

7 The Princess Bride (1987)

The Princess Bride Westley and Buttercup

Based on the novel by William Goldman (who also wrote the movie's script), The Princess Bride has everything Harry Potter fans and fantasy fans, in general, could ask for. It works with magic, a beautiful and courageous princess, pirates, and, of course, villains and true love.

The movie is surprisingly dark and scary at times but so was Harry Potter on occasion. It also offers a lot of light-hearted and fun moments, making it an ideal magical movie with plenty of adventure.

6 The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe (2005)

Chronicles of Narnia The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The series has three movies but the first one is also probably the best part. Taking place during World War II, little Lucy Pevensie discovers a path to the magical world of Narnia, where an evil witch rules. From there on, it's up to Lucy and her three siblings to defeat the witch and save Narnia from doom.

The movie is full of magic, as Narnia remains beautiful even under the rule of the ice queen, played by Tilda Swinton. The movie stars other well-known actors, such as James McAvoy. Sometimes, all children need to enter a magical world is through a special wardrobe!

5 Enchanted (2007)

A fairytale princess usually does well in her own world, but if she ends up in our current society, she might stick out like a sore thumb. That's what happens to Giselle, played by Amy Adams. She has a hard time acclimating to the different world but things get better when she grows closer to the handsome lawyer Robert (Patrick Dempsey).

However, Prince Edward (James Marsden) is determined to find his beloved and bring her back. The movie successfully uses fairytale storytelling tropes and innovates them. As a result, it's a magical story that has several touching, funny, and surprising moments, while it's clear the actors all enjoy their roles.

4 Stardust (2007)

Stardust 2007

Inspired by Neil Gaiman's fantasy book, the movie tells the story of Tristan Thorne, a young man who vows to bring a fallen star to the girl he loves. But he has no idea that evil witches and cunning princes will stand in his way or that the fallen star isn't a rock, but a beautiful young woman.

The movie is the ideal fantasy road movie that offers magic by handfuls and has an excellent cast. Charlie Cox (Daredevil) plays the leading part, Michelle Pfeiffer shines as the evilest witch of all, Claire Danes stars as the fallen star, and other notable names include Robert De Niro, Ben Barnes, Henry Cavill, and Mark Strong.

3 Frozen (2013)

Frozen

Frozen is now already a classic that spawned a similarly successful sequel in 2019. Even though it's animated and Harry Potter isn't, both series share the same sense of wonder and joy (and sometimes terror) at discovering magic.

Just like Harry and his friends have to learn their new powers, Princess Elsa has to understand the finer points of conjuring and manipulating ice and snow. The movie is ideal for watching at Christmas but comes across as a feel-good piece no matter what time of year it is.

2 Doctor Strange (2016)

Ancient One knocks Doctor Strange out of his body

Stephen Strange indeed learns his magical skills differently, nor does he use a wand. However, under other circumstances, the brilliant but arrogant Strange could be a Hogwarts alumnus, possibly from Ravenclaw or even Slytherin.

Whatever the answer to this hypothetical scenario is, Doctor Strange manages to bring a lot more magic to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making it different from science-based movies such as Iron Man. And, of course, Benedict Cumberbatch is brilliant in the titular role. Another more magical MCU movie is the recent Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021).

1 Beauty And The Beast (2017)

Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast

The new trend is to transform classic Disney animated movies into live-action ones. Beauty and the Beast is one of the best adaptations. All Harry Potter fans will be excited to see Emma Watson again. Emma Watson stars at the titular Beauty, a smart young woman named Belle, who ends up in the enchanted castle and gradually falls in love with the Beast. However, their love isn't without difficulties.

The movie has excellent actors, several memorable songs, is visually beautiful and above all, offers a lot of magic. The Beast's home is far from ordinary, so discovering all the little details in which it's magical will be fun for Harry Potter fans.
