After 2K Games announced at Gamescom that it is working on Mafia 3, gamers have been clamoring for more information about the game. We already received a few hints about the gameplay from the Mafia 3 announcement trailer, but now thanks to some brief gameplay video, we now know a few more details about the game.

First and foremost, as the above video and below screenshots show, this game is beautiful. The vibrant daytime environments, the dynamic lighting, and the powerful muscle cars all work together to provide a stunning visual experience within Mafia 3. Now, granted, developers have provided flashy gameplay video and screenshots in the past, only to deliver a final product that underwhelms, but fans of the series can’t help but marvel at the gorgeous gameplay as it currently stands.

In addition to the impressive graphics displayed in the gameplay, there are a few more new details about Mafia 3 that gamers are sure to find interesting. First off, player decisions in Mafia 3 will affect not only the storyline, but the people and city around them. According to the video commentator, player actions are very important and will help shape the experience gamers have in the game.

Additionally, it looks like stealth will likely play some role in Mafia 3, just as it has in other open world action games – like Grand Theft Auto and Assassin’s Creed. Having the option to do things quietly should help give each player a unique experience in the game, rather than expecting everyone to run-and-gun through hordes of bad guys.

Speaking of running-and-gunning, it looks like those who choose that path definitely won’t be disappointed. The brief bit of gunplay, car wreck, and explosion physics in the gameplay were fun to watch and will surely be enjoyable to experience. And while the gameplay only showed a couple different guns at work, there’s little doubt the game’s full lineup of weapons will please gamers as they pump their enemies full of lead.

Another intriguing aspect to Mafia 3 is the beautiful muscle cars from the era. While old-time cars from previous Mafia games were fun, and the flashy sports cars from games like Grand Theft Auto 5 are thrilling, it’s hard to beat the roaring engines and powerful look of the late 60s muscle cars available in Mafia 3. And naturally, such cars wouldn’t be complete without the music of the era blaring from the speakers.

What did you think of the gameplay video? Do you think Mafia 3 will live up to the hype? Let us know in the comments.

Mafia 3 is expected to release in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
