Made In Abyss Dawn Of The Deep Soul

Based on the manga by Akihito Tsukushi, Made in Abyss aired during the Summer 2017 season. The 13-episode anime adaptation was directed by Masayuki Kojima (Monster, Hajime no Ippo), and written by Hideyuki Kurata (Hellsing Ultimate, Goblin Slayer). Kinema Citrus (Barakamon, The Rising of the Shield Hero) animated the series, with composer Kevin Penkin (Tower of God, Star Wars: Visions) handling the series’ score.

Two compilation films, Made in Abyss: Journey's Dawn and Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight, were released in 2019, with Kojima, Kurata, and Penkin returning in their respective roles. A third film, Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, was released in 2020 and covered the Ido Front Arc.

A sequel to the anime was announced in May under the name, Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. The series’ main cast and staff will return for the upcoming season, which is scheduled to release sometime in 2022.

A 3D action RPG developed by Spike Chunsoft was also announced in May. The game will be fully voiced in English and Japanese, featuring an original story supervised by Tsukushi, and will be released on Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022.

In June 2021, Columbia Pictures announced that a live-film adaptation is currently in the works. Roy Lee and Masaki Osa will serve as producers, with Kevin McMullin adapting the original story.

Seven Seas Entertainment licenses the Made in Abyss manga in English. Sentai Filmworks originally simulcast the series through Amazon’s Anime Strike service. The series currently streams on Prime Video and HIDIVE.
