‘Madden NFL 25’ Trailer Showcases Next-Gen AI and Movement

Gamers searching for their first indication of what the next generation of consoles can do to improve games should look no further than the sports genre. Sports games have typically been the benchmark for improvements over the current-gen, and that seems to remain true as we prepare for the release of the PS4 and Xbox One.

While there are several games slated to hit the next-gen this Fall, Madden NFL 25 will likely stand out as the must-have sports title. And to show why Madden NFL 25 is leading the pack as far as next-gen improvements are concerned, EA Sports has released a brand new trailer.

Unlike the previous Madden NFL 25 next-gen trailer, which focused on the visual improvements for this year’s iteration, this new trailer highlights the improvements EA Sports made to the on-the-field play. Specifically, the trailer explains how Madden NFL 25‘s advanced AI will make every facet of the game feel more authentic than ever before.

Perhaps the biggest advancement for Madden NFL 25‘s on-the-field play is the new ‘Player Sense’ mechanic. Player Sense, as the name implies, informs how a player reacts based on their surroundings. For example, players might be more cautious as they near the sideline, or adjust their speed when a tackler is dead ahead.

Similarly, the ‘War in the Trenches’ mechanic keeps the offensive and defensive line aware of their surroundings. Granted, those groups of players have always been serviceable in previous Madden games, but in Madden 25 they will apparently sport some improved AI.

Like with the previous Madden NFL 25 trailer, the changes in this year’s game are subtle but potentially impactful, meaning many novice players might never notice them. Those who have been sticking with the franchise for the past few years, however, might see these changes as big steps forward for Madden.

All we know is that the current-gen version of Madden NFL 25 (read our review) had quite a lot in common with Madden 13, likely a byproduct of EA Sports focusing all of their attention on these next-gen iterations. Regardless of how it plays, though, the game sure does look impressive.
