Almost always a point of contention and debate between professional football players and fans alike, Madden NFL 23 has begun to reveal its ratings for the many players going into the 2022-2023 season. While many players are happy to land in the top handful of their position, or even break 90, the ultimate achievement is to receive the coveted 99 rating. The game's social media has revealed the next recipient of the highest possible overall rating in the Madden NFL series.

EA Sports' Madden NFL 23 is the new upcoming entry in one of the longest-running video game series of all time, which first started back in 1988. While the annual title is still purchased in long numbers, complaints of the game's lack of innovation and buggy game modes have grown in recent years. EA is attempting to address these problems with this iteration, outlining the big changes coming to Madden NFL 23's Franchise Mode and Free Agency.

Madden NFL 23's official Twitter account posted a short video documenting the introduction of the latest member of the 99 Club, which is revealed to be Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. The 90-second video opens up with an introduction from NFL legend and All-Madden Team Member Bruce Smith, who holds the league sack record at 200. Smith walks in on Myles Garrett in the middle of a weight training session to surprise him with a 99 Club gift box. After happily examining the swag, Garrett talks about 99 being the standard for him going forward.

The Browns' star player is only the second one revealed to have a perfect 99 rating so far, with Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams the only other current recipient. Both players were actually part of the 99 Club for last year, although Adams was Madden NFL 22's first 99 player, receiving the honor last summer, while Myles Garrett didn't earn the rating until December of last year. Still though, Garrett is the first Browns player to ever earn a 99, and is now the first Browns player to have the rating at launch.

While the predictions of 99-rated Madden NFL 23 players have yet to come true, a unique aspect of the game is that player ratings can be adjusted as the real-world season goes on. The Los Angeles Rams' Cooper Kupp narrowly missed the club, getting a 98, while the Bills' Josh Allen and Bengals' Joe Burrow are still in the running, with QB ratings releasing on July 22.

With Madden NFL 23 set to launch in just a few weeks, players have a variety of pre-order options. While each edition comes with a handful of perks, the ultimate version is the Madden NFL 23 All Madden Edition, which includes early access, thousands of Madden Points, and more.

Madden NFL 23 launches August 19 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
