EA released the last Franchise Mode update for Madden NFL 21 at the beginning of March, but just followed up with another new update. Madden 21's 1.26 update will address some of the bugs and glitches that have lingered since the Franchise Mode update. While players should not expect any new content in Madden 21, the update may fix some of the issues players have encountered.

Madden NFL 21 regained some popularity after launching on EA Play, giving Xbox Game Pass Ultimate owners a chance to hop onto the gridiron. As players have taken the opportunity to play the title, many have noticed there are still some bugs scattered throughout the game, although not nearly as harmful as bugs when the game first released.

Although the latest Franchise Mode update was intended to tweak AI trade logic and add league historical context, it seems some bugs have come along with the changes. One player noticed that their coach in Franchise mode received a hilarious rainbow makeover, so the 1.26 update will most likely address this and similar bugs. The Madden 1.26 update does not contain any patch notes, but based on the changelog for the PlayStation 4, the update will address stability and quality improvements.

The update launched across all platforms including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, meaning the bugs and glitches will hopefully be fixed on next-gen versions of the title as well. The update could also fix some AI logic in the Franchise Mode, as one player shared a questionable coaching decision made by their AI in Franchise Mode leading into an important game.

It seems the Madden 21 1.26 update may be the last one for the title. EA most likely has turned focus to Madden NFL 22, which is expected to be announced soon with a release later in 2021 given the history of yearly Madden releases. Although Madden 22 has yet to be officially announced, rumors have been circulating regarding upcoming features that could improve the release of the next Madden.

Madden 21 released with some disappointment for fans, many believing that it did not innovate enough from the year before. Some fans even called for the NFL to drop EA, and for Madden to fix its Franchise Mode. EA released a number of updates for Franchise Mode to make up for the state of the game mode at release, so hopefully Franchise Mode will have improvements in Madden 22 when it does release.

Madden NFL 21 is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
