Madden NFL 21 is only a few weeks away from being in players' hands and to help satiate the short wait, EA Sports has released a new trailer detailing the newest mode in the game The Yard.

The new mode takes players back to classic arcade football games of yore with a focus on 6v6 similar to 2K's newly announced NFL games. In the mode players will create an athlete, customizing the appearance and player gear as they play games. Earning experience and unlocks as they progress through the mode will unlock new equipment and appearance changes through the game's Style Zone menu.

The story mode within The Yard is already playable within the NFL 21 Mobile game available on on Android and IOS devices. Players can play solo games or multiplayer competitive, both modes will feed into the experience pool. The same mode will be available in Madden NFL 21 at launch on its console counterparts. Like the console version, the mobile game will have a generic name for Washington (formerly the Washington Redskins) amidst the plans for a name change to the team.

Madden NFL 21 is in a unique position this year, when the game was revealed fans took to Twitter to express disappointment in the Franchise mode. The reveal of the mode showed that it seemed to lack depth that other EA Sports titles have. EA Sports has since responded promising more updates to the mode as the game releases.

Madden NFL 21 releases on August 28, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with future releases planned for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
