Just recently, the video game developer EA Sports officially revealed that the cover for the next entry in the long-running football series Madden NFL 18 will feature none other than the New England Patriots' current quarterback, Tom Brady. The confirmation of the QB's appearance on the forthcoming game's cover also came along with a brand new teaser trailer for the title, which shows off gameplay footage, graphical refinements from the previous installment with the Frostbite engine, its release date of August 25, 2017, and more.

As seen below in EA Sports' brief trailer for Madden NFL 18, Tom Brady is primarily featured, as his video game counterpart is shown exiting the tunnel of New England's Gillette Stadium and onto the field while being greeted by a roaring crowd Patriots fans. Not to mention, the clip highlights what appears to be a new story-based career mode and lets fans know that those who pre-order the game's G.O.A.T. Edition–no doubt a reference to Brady, which will invoke loads of debate among football fans–will get access to the game three days early, two additional Ultimate Team Squad Packs, 2500 contracts, one multi-uniform pack, and one of five Elite players: Tom Brady, Barry Sanders, Ray Lewis, Deion Sanders, or Jerry Rice.

When it comes to EA Sports putting Tom Brady on the cover of Madden NFL 18, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise, especially considering the quarterback's performance during last year's Super Bowl and the total accolades he has racked up during his career–for example, he's played in seven Super Bowls and has won five of them with the Patriots. Of course, getting the cover of the game could have its drawbacks, as Brady acknowledged the "Madden Curse," with the QB saying, "I suppose there's been some reality to that curse over the years. Hopefully I can break it. That would be pretty cool."

As far as Madden NFL 18's potential story mode is concerned, it looks as if EA Sports has taken a cue from the positive reception fans have given FIFA 17's story mode, "The Journey," which put gamers in the cleats of Alex Hunter as he ascends through the ranks to soccer stardom. To be specific, the teaser trailer for Madden NFL 18 shows a character sitting on his bed in a hotel room and looking out the window to the Indianapolis Colts' Lucas Oil Stadium while he narrates his life and how he got to that point.

Finally, EA Sports has declared that it will be leaving the last generation of consoles behind in favor of supporting current-gen systems, with Madden NFL 18 only releasing for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Until now, every Madden game starting with 2005’s Madden NFL 06 and onward has been released on either or both of those systems. Bearing all of this in mind, it will be interesting to see how the franchise's fans react to all of these updates and changes to come with Madden NFL 18.

Madden NFL 18 is slated to release on August 25, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
