Each year, Blumhouse releases countless impressive horror movies. In 2022, the production company came out with The Black Phone, the adaptation of Joe Hill's short story starring Ethan Hawke in the role of The Grabber. There is also the forthcoming Halloween Ends in October and Nikyatu Jusu's Nanny will be released in November. Blumhouse's 2022 releases cover a returning killer from a slasher franchise, a nanny working for a creepy family, and the strong siblings who go up against a child abductor. This is exactly the entertaining variety that horror fans love.

In early 2023, Blumhouse will release M3GAN, which sounds like it will be an exciting movie that fans of the company will love. From some plot details to the cast, crew and release date, there are some things that fans should know about this upcoming movie.

The Plot

Allison Williams as Rose Armitage in Get Out

There are many Blumhouse horror/science-fiction movies and M3GAN is in that category, too. The movie is about Gemma (Allison Williams) who works for a company that makes toys. When she comes up with a robotic doll named M3GAN, she also becomes the guardian for her niece who has lost her parents. Gemma decides that her prototype for M3GAN can assist her with this situation and, of course, this being a horror movie, all hell breaks loose.

The movie's premise will remind horror fans of the Child's Play franchise as Chucky the evil doll is timeless. M3GAN, like Chucky, is meant to be a friendly, comforting toy for children but they are also supposed to be there for parents, which is a new, unique take.

The tagline on the poster says "Friendship has evolved.” It will be fascinating to see how this toy ruins Gemma's and her niece's life and how they are able to win against it (and if they even can). M3GAN is definitely a horror movie with a great title as it gets to the point of the horrors of this doll.

The Cast And Crew

Allison Williams as Rose Armitage in Get Out

Allison Williams stars in M3GAN as the main character Gemma. Williams played Rose Armitage in Jordan Peele's popular Blumhouse horror movie Get Out (2018). Rose is in a relationship with Daniel Kaluuya's character Chris Washington who goes with Rose to meet her parents and is horrified by what he finds there. Williams is also known for her portrayal of Marnie Michaels on the HBO series Girls.

Rounding out the case are Amie Donald, who plays M3GAN, and Jenna Davis, who is the voice of M3GAN. Previously, Donald played Maya Monkey in the TV series Sweet Tooth (2021). Davis plays the role of Meg in an episode of Hulu's comedy series Maggie and played Sienna on the reboot Raven's Home (2017-2022).

Brian Jordan Alvarez plays the part of Cole and previously played Estefan Gloria on the reboot of Will And Grace (2018-2020). Violet McGraw and Ronny Chieng also star in the movie. McGraw will be familiar to fans of The Haunting of Hill House (2018). Mike Flanagan fans are excited for The Midnight Club as Hill House is such a brilliant show that is actually scary. McGraw played young Nell Crain, the child who is terrified by the Bent-Neck Lady. Chieng played Dr. Lee on the TV series Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.

While Blumhouse fans are curious about Five Nights At Freddy's updates, it's exciting to look forward to M3GAN as the premise and cast look great. Jason Blum, James Van, Couper Samuelson and Michael Clear are co-producing the film.

Akela Cooper wrote the movie and Gerard Johnstone is the director. Cooper wrote the 2021 horror film Malignant. Johnstone wrote and directed the 2014 film Housebound about a woman on house arrest who encounters something scary. Even the trailer for Malignant was terrifying and the movie is even more unnerving, which suggests that the script for M3GAN will be full of as many scares and surprises.
