Lycoris Recoil has been receiving plenty of fanfare lately. The anime is on the top of many fan-voted charts, the blonde protagonist is appearing all over online anime spaces, and even Hideo Kojima has recommended the anime during the middle of its currently airing run. The original anime has been successful in a world full of long-awaited adaptations, and will now be getting a manga adaptation.

The series takes place in a world where orphan girls are taught to be Lycorises, a form of violence control. There is political intrigue, crime, and secrets hidden behind the adorable anime girls that star in this series. The series drops little snippets of exposition through news or background conversation, encouraging viewers to put together the puzzle pieces themselves. The audience is introduced to a quirky cast of characters, a mysterious organization, and a quaint coffee shop hiding its real business behind the front end. The anime is flooded with conspiracy, action, and heartwarming moments.

The cute action anime full of manipulative government organizations, assassins, and a quirky café setting is being illustrated by Yasunori Bizen, an artist with only one other manga to his name; Towa no Quon. This was announced in Comic Flapper, a magazine known for Mushoku Tensei - Jobless Reincarnation, The Rising Of The Sheild Hero, and Girls & Panzer: Ribon no Musha, a spin-off of the original Girls & Panzer.

As there is no author listed for the project, it can be assumed the manga will be a direct and exact adaption of the anime. It will start serializing next month in Comic Flapper, on September 5. The anime is estimated to finish in the same month as well, as the season is reportedly already halfway over, and has already announced the English Dub.

The manga will most likely bring those who prefer manga into the Lycoris Recoil fandom, and possibly contribute to its virality. An original, non-adaption anime becoming popular is unique in this day and age, as most hyped anime tend to be adaptations of already popular manga or light novels. Whether this popularity will continue is to be seen as the anime series finishes next month.
