Ludwig has publicly come out and called on Twitch to ban disgraced streamer Sliker following his admission of scamming viewers out of at least $200,000 to fuel a gambling addiction. Ludwig posted updates as to how he and others had addressed Sliker's fraud, before pressuring Twitch to go further with consequences than they have so far.Gambling has always been a contentious issue on Twitch, with streamers often clashing live on air about the pitfalls of the practice and whether it should be allowed on the streaming platform. Discourse heightened when it was discovered that Sliker had been siphoning money from fans and peers to fund betting on matches of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Messaging them privately, he would claim to be in financial difficulty, or that revenue sources had not been processed. The $200,000 scandal is likely what broke the camel's back and forced Twitch to implement a harsh policy regarding gambling, particularly slots, but this was insufficient for some. Although Twitch had removed the ability to subscribe to Sliker, his channel remained, and he is still capable of streaming from it at the time of writing. Many called on Sliker to be permanently banned, as well as some promising to try and reimburse those affected by the fraud.Ludwig followed through, posting to his Twitter account the payout details which accumulated to $243,653.40, with only $697.40 of that total due to transaction fees. Ludwig added that it was about time for the platform to "do your job" and remove Sliker from the platform, with many in the thread noting their shock that a ban had not already been served by Twitch. Concluding his update, Ludwig thanked xQc, Slime, and Wojito (OTK's project manager) for their generosity, time spent verifying, and payment facilitation respectively. Other replies claimed that they too had sent money to Sliker but had not been refunded, suggesting that the true total stolen could still be even higher.
Fallout from the scandal turned ugly when an argument regarding cryptocurrency scams between Mizkif and Trainwreckstv saw the latter accuse the former of covering up sexual assault. It was revealed that CrazySlick (a different streamer to Sliker) was who Trainwreckstv referenced, allegedly assaulting AdrianahLee while she was unconscious during a party.
The reaction to gambling being effectively banned from the platform was overwhelmingly positive, but effectively squandered days after upon Twitch announcing changes to revenue distribution between the company and top streamers. With so much talent having been taken from the streaming platform by YouTube's exclusive and lucrative contracts, many assumed that Twitch is suffering hardship that will not be alleviated for some time to come.
