Lucifer Season 6 certainly ends the show with a bang. Getting ready to be God is no small feat for Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis). Luckily, he has Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and the rest of their friends by his side. However, someone new shows up and puts a wrinkle into Lucifer and Chloe's plans. The show starts off rather simply, with Lucifer and Chloe going on a date on what's meant to be his last night in L.A. There's a nice call back to the beginning of the show, when he bribes the same cop to let him go. Of course, things don't go as planned and Lucifer and Chloe end up embroiled in a mystery when they witness the demise of the magician they came to see. Meanwhile, Linda (Rachael Harris) and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) have Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) and Eve (Inbar Lavi) over for dinner. Linda helps the two women work through some issues. Poor Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) is stuck in purgatory playing ping pong.
Lucifer comes to visit him but he doesn't have any answers so Dan sends him away. The second episode of Lucifer Season 6 starts with Amenadiel walking in on Lucifer and Chloe, telling the former that his return to heaven has been requested. He feels that Lucifer hasn't changed much, since he was supposed to have gone already, but he didn't. Chloe reminds him that Lucifer always gets there in the end and to have more faith in him. Lucifer then heads to Linda's office, as he isn't sure what to do. He ends up deciding to try to help someone he doesn't care about at all, to prove that he could make it as God. This leads to him trying to help Carol Corbett (Scott Porter) with a case and possibly to make a love connection. Of course, Lucifer initially assumes that Carol only wants to sleep with someone, but eventually he ends up realizing that what he really wants is a relationship with Ella (Aimee Garcia). Lucifer helps him and ends up caring about him in the process, which he sees as a bad thing as he hasn't proved he can do a good job as God. After another visit to Linda's office, Lucifer decides to help someone he hates, Jimmy Barnes (John Pankow), the producer from his first case with Chloe.
Unfortunately, Jimmy passed the year before in the mental hospital. So Lucifer and Chloe go down to hell to speak to him. They end up stuck in his hell loop which is initially a cartoon version of Lucifer interrupting his wedding. After a while, it changes to the 1980s when he is managing a band called The Wednesdays. They fire him and when his girlfriend suggests he try to get them back, he breaks up with her. When both events happen, the image of the people leaving changes to a woman with a guitar. Lucifer tells Jimmy that he only pushed his girlfriend away because he was afraid of her doing the same to him. Jimmy says that people only want what he can give them, like fame and money. But Chloe disagrees, stating that that was all Jimmy offered them. Lucifer then convinces Jimmy to go after his girlfriend but they stay in the hell loop to figure out the source of Jimmy's torture
They find that his mother left him and told him to keep watching cartoons and that she'd be right back. Of course, she never returned. Lucifer then makes it so that she comes back and watches cartoons with Jimmy. He now understands why Jimmy made the choices he did, even if he doesn't agree with them. While Lucifer and Chloe are in Hell helping Jimmy, Amenadiel is getting ready to start his new job as a police officer. And Dan returns to Earth with an angel who wants to hurt Lucifer. Except he's a ghost, who can only be seen by other celestial beings. After realizing Dan isn't where he's supposed to be, Lucifer heads to Heaven but Dan isn't there either. Of course, he's on Earth in Lucifer's apartment with one very angry angel. As soon as Lucifer gets there, she attacks him.
However, Lucifer has no idea who she is. All he knows is that she hates him and he spends a lot of time trying to make her like him. After solving a few more mysteries, Lucifer realizes his true purpose. Don't worry, it won't be spoiled. Overall, the show has a fitting end. It's a bit bittersweet yet it definitely works. It fits all of the characters and will hopefully satisfy most fans. The last season is overall a thrilling ride. It is also an emotional one, so fans should definitely have the tissues ready. Lucifer Season 6 does have a good ending.
It might not be one that fans would've expected, yet it is truly the best possible ending. The season overall is definitely good television. While there are some slow moments and some conflicts are resolved in a slightly frustrating way, it is overall a good story. New characters are introduced and do dominate the narrative a bit. Yet all of the old fan-favorites have fitting stories as well. Including Lucifer and Chloe. Without spoiling too much, it is a happily ever after to some extent. A true bittersweet ending for the show, yet one that will hopefully resonate with fans. Lucifer Season 6 is a truly worthy ending for the story. The show will surprise fans and make them feel every emotion possible, but that's just a sign of good writing.
Lucifer Season 6 is certainly written well, and every fan who watches it will be swept away with the story. While it might not be the story fans would've expected, it is one they would want. Every storyline is wrapped up in a satisfactory way, and every character is treated with the respect they deserve. From Lucifer to Chloe to Maze, to the most secondary of characters. All are given the prominence and respect that they deserve. Fans will hopefully not be disappointed at all by this ending, even if it differs from how many would've thought the show would end.
