Lucasfilm has made quite a few major announcements recently, the first being that all Star Wars games now belong under the banner of "Lucasfilm Games." More excitingly, it also announced that Lucasfilm Games would be developing a new Indiana Jones title in collaboration with Bethesda and MachineGames. Not only that, but it's creating an open-world Star Wars game in conjunction with Ubisoft Massive, the developers behind The Division.

Apparently, these announcements are just the beginning, too. Lucasfilm Games revealed today that it has even more projects waiting in the wings, ones it plans to divulge throughout 2021 and beyond. Some of these projects include multiple new Star Wars games made with the help of EA's development teams. Like with the upcoming open-world Star Wars game, Lucasfilm Games Vice President Douglas Reilly claims the developer will reveal more details on everything soon.

According to Reilly, Lucasfilm set all of this into motion to better live up to its old Lucasfilm Games legacy. The developer has a motivation similar to PlayStation Productions, where it recognizes that it understands its own IPs better than outside developers. As such, it wants to have a hand in developing its IP's games to make sure they end up as the best possible product that they can be. With that in mind, Lucasfilm Games is also in the process of pitching new ideas, not just developing projects.

Both a new Indiana Jones video game and an open-world Star Wars title are things fans of Lucasfilm properties have been asking for, for a while now. They alone provide enough reason for fans to be excited about the future announcements Lucasfilm Games has in store. Of course, it remains to be seen if Lucasfilm Games' involvement in all the upcoming projects will guarantee that said projects are all good, but the notion certainly sounds solid enough for it to be plausible.

As alluded to earlier, Reilly couldn't provide any real details about what's coming when he discussed the announcements with StarWars.com. However, more information on everything is coming soon. Exactly when remains a mystery, though, and it's likely none of the games already announced will arrive anytime soon. That said, it sounds as though Lucasfilm Games has a lot in store, and so news regarding its upcoming plans should release frequently enough. Conceivably, fans won't have to wait long to get more info on all of the exciting things coming.
