Two LucasArts games from the SNES era will be making their way onto Nintendo Switch this summer. Disney Interactive is publishing the re-release of Zombies Ate My Neighbors and its sequel Ghoul Patrol, two run-and-gun style games known for their humor and gameplay. They will be released under the Lucasfilm Classic Games banner. Since Lucasfilm Games' reestablishment earlier this year, the company has been working on new titles such as an Indiana Jones game with an original story and an open-world Star Wars game.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol are not the only LucasArts games to be revived for the Switch this year. Following a leak in February, the 2005 tactical first-person shooter Star Wars: Republic Commando was released for the Switch and PS4 in April. Though Republic Commando was playable through backward compatibility in 2018, the Switch release for Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol marks their first re-release since 2010 on the Wii Virtual Console.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol will be receiving some quality of life upgrades for their release on the Nintendo Switch. Players will now be able to save anywhere, discover additional museum content, and get achievements for performing certain tasks in the game. Both games will retain single-player and local co-op modes. The story in Zombies Ate My Neighbors and its sequel revolves around Zeke and Julie, two teenagers who must brandish backyard weapons and even travel to different worlds in order to rescue their neighbors from various horror movie monsters.

While Ghoul Patrol is less well-known, Zombies Ate My Neighbors is considered to be a cult classic by many gamers because of its surprisingly deep gameplay and humorous horror atmosphere. Most of the monsters in the game are present in classic horror films from the 1950's and earlier, but the game also contains influences from slasher films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th. For fans of cheesy horror, Zombies Ate My Neighbors is one of the best LucasArts games of the 90s and will now be easier to play than ever.

The combo experience with both horror games will be available for purchase via the Nintendo eShop. There are over 70 levels to get through with pop culture inspired names like Weird Kids on the Block and Dances With Werewolves. Players can also learn a bit about the creation of the game in a short video interview with a LucasArts developer as part of the museum content. Now that Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol are getting a modern console release, more people will be able to enjoy these forgotten LucasArts classics.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol will release June 29 for Nintendo Switch.
