Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic shutting down large gatherings and entertainment productions, there are still discussions being held for after things open up, such as Tom Cruise talking with NASA and SpaceX about shooting a film in space. Another film apparently ready to go into production "as soon as it is possible" is Netflix's Bright 2 starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.

The sequel to David Ayer's 2017 modern-day fantasy movie may be directed by Louis Leterrier according to Deadline, the same filmmaker behind 2008's The Incredible Hulk, 2010's Clash of the Titans, and 10 episodes of Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Despite receiving a fairly abysmal 28 percent critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, Bright was a hit with audiences for the streaming service. In fact Netflix reported that the film was seen by over 11 million viewers in the United States alone within its first three days of being available in late 2017.

Coming off the huge success of the documentary series Tiger King, Netflix has a few big projects in the works. For example the action movie Extraction, starring Chris Hemsworth, is expected to be one of the service's biggest-ever film premieres.

Bright 2 is currently in development for Netflix.
